Bunker Sweet Bunker…
What does one give as a shelter-warming present? Our friends K & M recently put a SafeShed on their property. I’m not sure if the potential for a hurricane, tornado or zombie apocalypse was the driving motivation, but I do know these things are ugly.
And let’s face it, is there much difference between having that in your backyard, and one of these?
Actually, the mausoleum seems to have greater airflow and light than the storm shelter. But I guess the shelter can always be re-purposed as a tomb when the time comes.
That’s foul.

Not only is it ugly, it doesn’t seem affixed to the ground exceptionally well from what their site suggests.(‘For additional security they can be anchored at the corners to the lifting lugs with either screw in earth anchors or anchors set in concrete. For even more protection earth can be placed against the sides and back wall.’) Wait, what? That’s not already done? Oh good lord.

Further: ‘They are maintenance free, attractive, and economical.’ ~Maybe? ~Hardly ~I could do better for likely less.

And it’s above ground too.

i’ve erected more attractive yard fortresses out of dead squirrels and lincoln logs.

actually I am planning to build in a safe room in my barn when I build. I’m just going to buy a shipping container and build around it. Structural support and the things are damn near impregnable already.
Warning Comment
Doesn’t look very safe to me. They could have built the same structure underground, I’m sure.
Warning Comment
Reminds me of Michael Moore’s F-911.
Warning Comment
Yuck. Surely they could have done something better than that. I’d feel safer underground.

Ok, this is one of those moments when I’m about to agree with you so brace yourself. Actually I think the mausoleum idea IS a good one. Not only that but you have a pair of very elegant bronze doors to go with it. I mean really it’s so you.:)

Living in Tornado Alley,it looks pretty damn good to me. Any port in a storm,as they say.

You are so bad. Funny but bad.
Warning Comment
That’s ugly, and it does not seem like it would be able to withstand a severe thunderstorm, forget a tornado.

ryn: So does a tractor trailer, and that doesn’t keep them from being tossed around by tornadoes (or zombies, I’d wager). LOL!
