Ok i admit it.
I am becoming somewhat obsessed with finding a new job. But not just because I’m so not loving my current job, but because I really do have a desire to move. To pick up, take the girls, and then, soon bring along the man, and start a new life. On my own. Start all over. I love it, the feeling is freeing and of course laden with responsibility… but i like that. I want that.
I’ve been spending almost all of my free computer time searching for and applying for jobs in North Carolina. That seems to be the state that has struck my fancy. This isn’t new however, i’ve always been interested in working there. It is southern.. aka, better weather, and closer to the ocean.. yet still close enough to drive, however inconvenient, to come home and visit a couple times a year. I like that. And they actually need teachers…
holy cow?!?! a place with an actual job market?! for ME?! not a place where one is considered exceedingly fortunate to be employed..
so yeah.. i’m becoming a bit preoccupied. I hope it pays off.
Keep lookin!

how odd would it be if you moved there right when i moved back from there? lol. it IS a great place for teachers, and it is warm (way TOO warm in the summer), and it’s a great overall economy and place to get ahead. however…it’s overrated. moving away, and NC in general. i only say this because, if you find a great job that’s one thing…it would be a great opportunity to go after! butsince i know you are so much like me, if you make the move “just because” you willll end up hating it. maybe not right away, but eventually. there’s a lot of great things about NC, but to me….there were a lot more worse things. also, if you end up in or around charlotte…it’s not close to the ocean. like, at all lol. it’s like an 8 hour drive! starting over sounds thrilling in theory…but it’s really not that fun when you’re doing it. and i don’t even mean the responsibilities & money. it’s everything else. it blows. i just want to tell you this so you decide to do it for the right reasons, i don’t want you to end up depressed for 5+ years the way i was, stuck somewhere i hated to be.

oh, PS….the charlotte school system is TERRIBLE!! unless you get in a private school, or a richie rich neighborhood….their entire HUGE district is like, inner city buffalo. their kids go to school in trailors!! and they have noo funding, it’s partly what scared me away from teaching. so, be careful with CMS!

Good luck on your job search. You may want to consider PA. The south eastern part of PA pays more than most states. Unfortunately, you still get the cold weather.

mrs Licky is right. It is different and it seems appealing at first and then you relize its a great place to visit, you just don’t want to stay there. LOL But even if someone told us that in the first place I’m glad I went to see why living in Buffalo(area) isn’t really all that bad.

I think you’ve gotten a lot of sound input but this is my take on it.As long as you go into it w/ realistic expectations, then it can be a great exp.Every area has its cons. You have to decide which cons are worse, lol. Freezing cold temps or humid muggy summers.Being far from your support system or working hard to make new friends who can be your support. And heck, every town has it’s crappy ‘hoods.
