how to make laundry detergent

saw this on a website.. sounds interesting.. and super cost-effective!

1 bar of soap. I used classic white Ivory.
1 C of Washing Soda (NOT baking soda). Can be found in the laundry detergent isle of some stores.
1/2 C of Borax powder.

Using a knife, shave off curls of the soap into about 4C of hot (not quite boiling) water. Stir until dissolved.

Into a 5 Gallon bucket (with lid), pour 3 Gallons of HOT water. Mix soap mixture into water. Stir for a few min. Pour in washing soda. Stir until dissolved. Pour in Borax, stir until dissolved. Cover and let sit overnight until cool. You should have a gelly liquid that’s a few shades lighter than the bar soap you used.

Use 1 cup for a normal load. On average, it will cost about 3 cent per load!
