First night back at Krav in 2 months and of course it’s ground week; I definitely lost some strength and stamina being out that long…but it felt good to be back. (read: it felt good to hit shit again)
As luck would have it, I also ended up partnering with a guy – which is fine, in fact I generally prefer it – it’s useful in that it makes you work harder (many of the women just go through the motions without any real force, which I find pointless; I’m there practicing because I want to know I can successfully utilize techniques on someone legitimately attacking me), but can be extremely uncomfortable for ground week in particular. Laying on your back with a stranger pulled tightly between your legs, intertwining your legs with his — you get used to it after awhile, that’s kind of the point, to BE “comfortable” in difficult positions, so that if/when you are attacked, your first instinct isn’t to freak out. I just expected to ease back in a little before the “hard” stuff – but this is okay too.
I started a 30 day yoga program last night as well – I need to start getting up early and doing it first thing in the morning tho because doing it after I got home from Krav was hard.
Obviously – still staying busy (read: in control), mind and body.
