Addiction
How can you knowingly destroy something beautiful for a momentary thrill?
How can you hate something you once loved so much?
Like listening to your favorite song on repeat for hours, reveling in its splendor over and over, knowing that one day you will wake up and it will mean nothing to you.
You will have overplayed it, lost its worth in its repetition.
But you can’t stop. You’re addicted. Nothing else will satisfy, console, or appease.
It becomes your entire life.
But it dies. It doesn’t last forever, it dies.
Or, it kills you.
