Not Dana.
Having undergone a very transformative summer between my new look and now moving on from an unhealthy hot and cold relationship with Rachel, I found myself thoroughly enjoying my life situation. And with a roommate to split costs with, I was also doing pretty well financially as well. This allowed me to do more socially.
The bank I worked at had recently replaced all of our computers and needed to get rid of the old ones. Being the Internet Banking guy and the only other IT guy for the bank other than my direct manager, Cathleen, they left the responsibility to me. Lori’s boyfriend, being a ‘Computer Nerd’ really helped me out. He knew of a place that needed computers that he could donate them to and or sell some… I didn’t know nor did I care. He was generous enough to do the high powered computer wiping that I needed s I told him he could do what he wanted with them to pay him for his time. My only request was to let me keep the best one there was after they were wiped so I could give it to Dana.
I knew she was working week to week and barely scrapping by. Since she moved into her own condo just up the road from my place, she didn’t have a computer and I knew she wouldn’t be able to afford one on her own any time soon. I gave her a call and told her I had one for her and she was absolutely ecstatic.
The day I dropped off the computer at her place I was a little thrown off. The girl who had given me tickets to a heavy metal concert had her place decorated in Hummel Figurines and Precious Moments. At the time I didn’t realize that the decor was all of her grandmother’s things. I found that out later. At the time I was just put off by the fact that a girl I was sure was a few years younger than me seemed to live like she was decade older. All I could think about was that the bottle cap art I had in the ceiling of my apartment would not mesh very well with the faded out ceramic ornaments on her walls at all. Oh well.
Meanwhile, Lori had been living up north for quite a few months now and I didn’t see her very much because of it. When my company gave me Rockies tickets once again I called Lori to ask her if she would like to go. She couldn’t do it. Even though they had moved in to the house back in May, they were having a house warming BBQ in September. She had to prepare for it because it was set for that weekend. I was under strict orders to attend and to mingle amongst the guests. Lori’s biggest fear was that all of her guests would hang out in their little cliques and no one would socialize between her friends and her boyfriend’s friends. I told her I would, but my biggest concern was to find someone to go with me to the baseball game.
I decided to invite Julie. She was a friend of Lori’s that I hung out with on multiple occasions who was pretty cool. Lori had mentioned she had been a bit of a home body as of late so I thought it would be good to get her out. She worked downtown so it would be easy for her to get there for the game as well.
She met me there and we went for a drink or two at a bar before the game and we had a good time. I really enjoyed getting to know Julie a little better seeing that I’ve known her for over a year, but didn’t really get to talk to her much one on one. Not with Lori being really possessive over me in the past. My only question was: How mad will she get when she finds out I went with Julie, even though I asked Lori to the game first?
