…Across the Island at another College. Jay and Dan started their new life sharing a dorm room at Stoneybrook University. Mark, wanting to share in their experience decided to dorm there as well. In the months that followed, we met some pretty cool people. Among them were Brendan, Vic, another Don and Brooke. Dan was out of his full leg cast and now going to rehab for his leg. While in rehab he had a light headed moment that made the doctor want to run some tests. Turned out he had an undiagnosed heart problem that may have killed him in the next couple of years. They ended up putting a defibrillator into him. While he was laid up in the hospital, he was shocked to learn his girlfriend Christine, even after all of her warnings, cheated on him with Don from the dorms.

   In the grand scheme of things he took it well, after all he was dealing with a real life and death crisis and although both Christine and Don were dead to him, it didn’t stop him from later dating Christine’s best friend Danielle, whom sided with Dan during this whole debacle, because honestly, who sided with the cheater when the one being cheated on is lying in a hospital bed undergoing surgery?

We’d tease him that he was "more machine now than man, twisted and evil." It went off during a Yoga class he was taking a few months later and he credits me with saving his life. I can’t take credit because if he died, there is no way I would say "If only I had broken his leg years ago. They would have found the problem earlier!"
