Don’s Wedding
Two days later we were all at Don’ and Heather’s wedding. They didn’t have a lot of money for the wedding so they got married in a church and had the reception in the basement in the ‘Sunday School’ classroom.
Someone, possibly Jay, asked about the other night. Heather sarcastically thanked Tony for it.
‘While us guys’ were off having fun her friend Sara and she were threading all the flowers for the headpieces for the wedding party. And Don was totally useless in helping set up for the wedding because he was so hung over.
Don told us “I don’t remember much about that night, but what I do remember, I wish I could forget.”
The wedding reception itself was low key, except for the bouquet toss. I guess they were trying to rig it so a certain girl would catch it, but the girl in question wanted no part of it. So the second time it was tossed (the first time hit the ceiling) it fell to the floor in front of all the girls untouched. The girl’s mother went over, picked up the bouquet and went over to her daughter and with the girls arms crossed and visibly annoyed her mother slammed the bouquet stem down the front of her dress. She was mortified and ran off. Simultaneously, every guest at the wedding turned their head in embarrassment to pretend like they notice this had occurred, because that’s what usually happens. No one actually watches the bouquet toss at a wedding.
