Colorado Springs: Round 2

  Eric was anxious to meet this Rachel person I spoke so highly about and I really wanted Rachel to meet some of my friends I’ve known since High School. I didn’t know what the chances were in getting Rachel to come down to Colorado Springs with me on a Friday night. It turned out very likely.

  Usually, Rachel tried to be home by 11 or 11:30 when her boyfriend got home, so when  she was actually very excited to go, even though I warned her that we wouldn’t get home until very, very late, I was surprised. She said her boyfriend was okay with her staying out.

  On the way down I gave Rachel a little background about Eric and what little I had on his co-worker friend of his. This was also when she informed me that in actuality, her boyfriend had gone down to Colorado Springs on ‘Business” and shared a hotel room with a female co-worker. He claimed nothing happened, but Rachel had her doubts. When we got down to Colorado Springs, Eric greeted us and informed us his friend would not be joining us. Perhaps that was for the better. I would have gotten angry or defensive if he had made any sexist remarks in her direction because there was a possibility. Rachel had a tendency to be a bit ditzy at times.

  We all went to dinner and had a few drinks. Eric really wanted to find a karaoke bar. We had a really good time and were out until they closed the bar around 2 or so. Eric approved of her.

  Rather than stay in the Springs, I opted to get Rachel home even though she didn’t seem to care either way. In the back of my mind, I didn’t want this one night to prevent her from hanging out with me in the future through some fight with her boyfriend or anything.

  I just remember looking over at her while she slept in the passenger seat of my jeep and thinking how adorable she looked. It was then that I realized and admitted to myself that I had really fallen hard for this girl. I even believed that maybe, just maybe she and I could one day be together.
