Alexis
Lori was a big football fan. She is the biggest Broncos fan I know and she was really sad that they were tearing down Mile High Stadium. After the last Broncos game was played at the stadium in December (we went to that game), the following month they were giving tours to the fans to be able to walk through the stadium one last time. While we were waiting on line in the cold, my cell phone rang. Chrissy called and let me know she was in the hospital. She had gone in for a bladder infection and ended up going into labor. Unfortunately, this was over a month premature.
Chrissy and her boyfriend, Zach had a little girl they named Alexis. She was tiny and was forced to stay in an incubator for close to a month, but otherwise completely healthy. Of course, with a new baby and plans to still move to California, she would be busy and I did not get to see her often. Our relationship was still strained from our previous living situation anyway, so it might have been better this way. However, when Lori or I did see her it was usually her flying solo. Zak and she had an arrangement where two days of the week he was responsible for her and two days of the week she was, and on weekends they would switch off. It led us to wonder when or if they spent any time together.
They lived in Zak’s mom’s basement for about a year before they moved, but they did it. They moved to California. By the time they moved, I had pretty much written off the thousands of dollars she promised to pay me back, so I was truly happy that they went off to follow their dreams of doing ‘art things’ out there on the west coast.
