Wednesday 7/26/23
7:45a.m. I wasn’t feeling very well after supper . I was painfully bloated plus I had bad muscle spasms. I got some Mylanta and a Tylenol with my evening meds then went to sleep. I had a decent night after that. Also, I was changed a couple of times so I wasn’t laying on urine The aide got me up and out of bed at five.
I slept in my wheelchair until breakfast. I had scrambled eggs and toast. The coffee and oj perked me up some. I called Chocolatschip. She had a bad night. Somebody knocked on her door last night. Then she said the bed bugs were out in force last night. She talked about getting rid of her airbed and spraying. She realizes the Housing Authority will not do anything.
We also talked about Eddie the Moocher. She made coffee for him this morning. But Chocolatschip said she can’t help him out any more.Shr can barely get by herself. Chococolatechip is also wondering what she is getting out of this deal. I don’t understand why she just doesn’t tell him to fuck off .
I see a doctor today between 11-12. I had a bad cough a while back. They took a couple of chest x rays. I’m not coughing now but I assume the doc will discuss the x rays. I do not think it’s anything serious
. 9:45a.m. I am not going to the Social today I don’t feel up to it for some reason. I just got changed and I’m in bedi want to stay in bed and read. I have 84more pages to go in my book k hope to finish today.
11:14a.m. I talked with Michelle Richmond the omnubusman. I explained how things have been going. I said it goes in cycles. I make a complaint things get better for a while then they slack. This happens in a weeks time. I said the care gets really bad on the weekend I also asked about the check I said I haven’t been getting $50 a month because they claim I’m behind on my rent. Lack of care and the check are my two main concerns.
Michelle said she talked with the administration. They are supposed to be investigating. She said she will get on them again. She explained about the check and will look into the matter.i figured I’m s rewed in that regards. Michelle actually paid me a visit. She seems to really care and wants to help.
I made it to the Coffee Social after all. The aides came and dressed me in pants and a shirt. I don’t know what happened to the doctor. They told me at the nurse’s station I was going for an office visit. But I ended up in the Fiesta Room instead. I would rather have my coffee and donuts anyway.
I am not happy about lunch though. I’m getting ham and pinto beans. Yech! I cannot stand ham and pinto beans. I tried calling the kitchen to get the substitute. I called twice and couldn’t reach anyone. I guess I will not be eating lunch today. Supper will be better. I’m having Pizza
12:17p.m. I made it back to my room I didn’t eat much of a lunch. All I had was jello. It’s just as well I filled up on coffee and chocolate milk. I am already bloated. That lousy lunch will only make me sicker
I heard from Chococolatechip on Messenger. She went to CMP to get that Ability shot. They had her under observation I said I ended up at the Social She just left a brief message
6:41a.m. I did a lot of reading in America’s Constitution:A Biography by Akhil Reed Amar. I finished Chapter 11 . This was about the Civil War Amendments. I have two more chapters to go then I will be finished. I will definitely read Chapter 12 tonight. It is about Progressive Era reforms. I think Amar will focus on the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote.
had two slices of pizza for supper. The pizza more than made up for the lousy lunch. I called Chocolatschip after I ate. She was going on about Tim The Moocher. Then she was saying people will be lining up outside her door because it is the end of the month.
We didn’t talk too long. The aide came in after I ate. She put me to bed and changed my briefs. I was glad to get into bed. The hoyer pad I sit onwas beginning to hurt. I’m still kind of wired from all the coffee. So I will stay up and read tonight.
Today turned out to be a good day. What helped was getting dressed. Then I met that omnubusman Michelle. It made me feel good knowing someone was really able and willing to help. Also, I had a pain free day and that was a definite plus. Then I read all afternoon. I got lost in Constitutional law and forgot about my problems.
I also got some good news from Chococolatechip. Betty Jo talked with her supervisor at Healthways. It is all good. She can bring Chococolatechip down for a visit. It will be on e a week. I have a visitor to look forward to and this makes me very happy.

Akhi Reed Amar began with the XVIth Amendment. This was the one that established the income tax. The author writes that this marks the third time Americans overturned a SC ruling that favored property interests over other constitutional values. First, there was the XI Amendment that overturned Chisum v George. Second the IV Amendment overturned the infamous Dred Scott decision. The XVI Amendment overturned Pollock v Farmers?oan and Trust Co. This decision was made in 1895. it ruled unconstitutional a progressive income tax.
