Wednesday 6/7/23

7:53a.m I had a good night. Aides came to check on me at 9pm ,and 2am. So I was not lying in urine all night. They came to get me up at five. I was given the option of staying in bed. I was ready to get up. I had a couple of very nice aides today.

I talked with Chocolatechip She said the fire alarm went off at 3:30 She also heard someone banging loudly on a door. She opted to stay up.  Chocolatechip  went on how she planned on doing two loads of laundry. I was telling me her about my night. Then she went on about how Theresa is going to take her to a food pantry.  She said she is practically out of food.

I talked about how I felt completely disorganized. I said my phone was unplugged. I had to go to the nurse’s station for help. They fixed my phone but my oxygen tubing fell on the floor. Call light was all tangled up and I couldn’t reach it. I was a mess for a while but I finially got help

We talked briefly. I slept in my wheelchair until they served breakfast I had a sweet roll and scrambled eggs. It was ok. So I guess I’m above the dirt and blessed with another day. My morning started off good with the help of nice aides. Rest of the day is going to be great. Remember:

1. I live in a clean and safe place
2. I get three meals a day.
3. I have a wonderful life partner in Chocolatechip
4. I have phone. Internet and cable service
5. I have health insurance
6. I have a Social Security check
7. I have plenty of books to read
8. My mind still functions

Life is pretty good. I’m am truly blessed.

10:36a.m. I made it to the Coffee Social.  I slept a good bit this morning so I could use ya nice cup of hot coffee. I m still doing good but I haven’t heard too much from Chocolatechip. I called her around nine. She said she’d call back but never did. I hope she isn’t mad at me. 

I tried to read this morning but fell asleep. Perhaps after I have my coffee I can get started in The Words that Made Us: America’s Constitutional Conversations,1760-1840 by Akhil Reed Amar.  But first. I need that coffee. Life is good.

1:03p.m. I made back from the Coffee Social. I had a great time talking to this girl named Emily. She loves to read as well and we talked a lot about books. I also had my fill of coffee so I am wide awake. I had a good lunch. I had two glazed pork chops, roasted, zucchini, mashed potatoes with gravy and cornbread. For desert I had sliced pears.

I also chatted with Chocolatechip. She made it downtown and back. Chocolatechip told me about how she paid her rentk and Comcast. She also said she is going to make chocolate brownies for the Father’s Day Party. Then she went on about having to wait a long time for a return trip. Bus from Steubenville took her back to Overbrook

I had a good time at the Social. I was glad to get out. I’m proud of myself because I had a real conversation with someone. This was a red letter day.

I haven’t started that book yet. I’m going to get into it this afternoon I did manage read the first page but will have to start over again. Life is good.

6:41p.m.   They must of put something in my coffee at the social because I felt so good all afternoon. This was really a good day. I received good care. I had two good meals. I did a little reading. But. Ore importantly I went to a Social and actually had a talk with someone This was a red letter day! Ice

I got off my wheelchair around 2:30 this afternoon I needed changed Aide got me in bed to change me. She asked if I wanted to stay on bed. I said I might as well. It was a good thing because my butt was sitting on that hoyer pad and it was starting to hurt. I ended up taking a nap. I think I slept for an hour.

I talked with Chocolatechip a lot after waking up. She is out of food. I was a bit upset with her. I said you c ant be living on cereal and waffles every day. I said you should try ordering groceries from Walmart.com and have them delivered. Instead of fixing meals for that moocher Eddie getting food should be a priority.

She did go online to look at grocery items. Delivery feesare $7.99. She has enough on her debit card. She found out they have a better selection online th an at the store. Best part of that is they are cheaper than Schwann’s. Chocolatechip said she will definitely place an order tomorrow after her doctor’s appointment. She agreed that shehaf has to start looking out for herself. I said getting food delivered is the way of the future.

We talked until they served supper. I got two toasted tuna melt sandwiches. I tried it but couldn’t eat it I did eat the potato salad and orange sherbert.  Supper just didn’t appeal to me. I guess I wasn’t hungry. I had that big lunch and that was enough.

Called Chocolatechip again after eating the potato salad. i was talking to her about that girl I talked to at the Social. I said everytime I talk with another woman I feel like I’m cheating. Chocolatechip said that is ok. I said I love you too much to hurt you like that.  I said we just talked about books and authors.  Then I said she is too young for me anyways. We talked for about thirty minutes then she had to get ready for bed.

Day is coming to an end. I’m going to try and stay up and read my book The Words that Made Us: America’s Constitutional Convention 1760-1840 by Akhil Reed Amar. I read the preface and it was pretty interesting. I hope to read the first chapter tonight.
