Tuesday 8/8/23

4:46am I’m above the dirt. I had another shitty night. I went without help from supper until ten. Then I was in the same uncomfortable position as last night. I cried out for help a few times but nobody came. Then they got me out of bed way too early, at 4am. But I’m alive and blessed with another day. 

I made made a  mistake in my last entry August 9 is National Book Lover’s Day. We celebrate by taking the time out to read a book.Some will celebrate by buying their lover a book. I think we all should take at least an hour to read every day . Anyways, I love books . I celebrate this day all year round. 

I did a lot of reading yesterday  I’m on Chapter 4 of my book The Law of the Land A Guided Tour of Our Constitutional Republic by Akhil Reed Amar.i read a total of three hours This is a very interesting book. Amar is one of my favorite authors. I hope to read two more chapters today. 

7:09am I’ve been awake since five . I could hardly stay awake but I did. I begged the aides for an extra cup of coffee. They kindly obliged and brought an extra cup to my room. Then I got !y regular coffee and orange juice. Then they served pancakes and scrambled eggs for breakfast. The coffee is and good food finally got me going. 

I just got of the phone with Chococolatechip. She had a good night because nobody bothered her. Chococolatechip was going on about having a another phone interview. This time she is talking to the nurse practitioner, Rachel from CMP. She doesn’t want any screw ups? They told you her it was a telephone interview. 

Then she talked about her but schedule. Chococolatechip has doctor’s appointment almost at the everyday this week. Then she has to get o to go the blood lab. Then pits grocery shopping and Dollar General. Chococolatechip said she can squeeze in a visit on the 21st. I can’t wait to see her.

Well, that was how my morning went.

10:37am I have been sleeping most of the morning. I alsoi said had a long chat with Chococolatechip on Messenger. She talked about her finances. It all looks good. After she talks with Rachel she is going to Gumby’s for Cigars She saiid she feels a lot better. Nobody is bothering her for money or cigars. I said that is good.   We chatted for about a half hour.

I made it to the Fiesta Room for the Coffee Social. I  am already on my first cup. The coffee is working its magic. I’m feeling a lot better.

I’d like to start on my book The Law of the Land A Guided Tour of Our Constitutional Republic by Akhil Reed Amar. But I got to wake up first. Perhaps after my coffee I can get into my book. 

1:16pm I didn’t have a very good time at the Coffee Social. I kept thinking people were talking about!e. Worse, I had two or three incontinence episodes. This made me feel even more embarrassed in anc ashamed of myself. I didn’t go back to my room though. I stayed  and had three coffees plus three glasses of chocolate milk. I also had two chicken tacos, rice. corn and banana pudding for lunch. I got back on my own after I ate.

I tried to read while I was down there. But got so depressed I couldn’t concentrate. I kept looking at the books in my Kindle Library. I have almost two hundred books.  I maxed out two credit cards buying those damned books. I probably won’t live long enough to read them all. What in the hell was I thinking? 

I called Chocolatschip. She was having a good day. Chococolatechip got her two cartons of cigars.Tney were cheaper than anticipated. When she got back the Schwann’s truck was at the building. She got a big order of groceries. Chococolatechip said she has plenty of food now.Best part is the exterminator is coming between 1-2 to assess her  apartment for bed bugs. Even better she has not been bothered by the Moochers Chocolatschip is having a very good day. 

I wish I was having a good day I need my briefs changed. I’m soaked. I’ve been sitting in feces and urine since before lunch I asked two or three aides for help. They could not or would not help me.nThis is making my depression and anxiety worse by the minute. Thks is just plain neglect and there is no excuse for it.

Well, I got to hit the books for awhile. I want to read Chapter 4. The author writes about the career of Justice  Anthony Kennedy who hailed from California.  Akhil Reed Amar begins with an early case involving free speech Texas v Johnson I will have to read this part  over again.

I think it involved desecration of the American flag. Gregory Lee Johnson was convicted under a Texas law that prohibited such actions. I think I remember reading where it came to the Supreme Court in 1989. The Court ruled in favor of Johnson because the Texas law violated his First Amendment rights. Why? It has something to do with the 14th Amendment. I’ll have to study this further to pass that bar exam.     

3:33pm I have been sitting in urine and feces since lunchtime. A not so nice aide came to put me to bed and change my briefs. She was not very gentle and I thought I’d fall out of bed at one point. But I survived the ordeal I’m high and dry and in bed.

I was talking to Chococolatechip. They want to do an emergency spraying of her apartment tomorrow. She had to reschedule a couple of appointments I said that’s a good idea. The spraying takes priority.  Chococolatechip said she doesn’t think she can get ready but she will do her best. So she will be very busy tonight. At last she is getting help from the Housing Authority.

Ok the 14th Amendment  made it so that citizens of the US would be protected from abuse by the states. I think !Kennedy wrote the that in Texas v Johnson the state law was unconstitutional because of this in part because of the 14th Amendment But I’ll have to read this chapter again to get a better understanding. So it is back to my book.

6:06a.m. I had a good supper of two sloppy joes and potato salad. For drinks I had a glass of chocolate milk. I didn’t have coffee because I got very bloated It will settle down after awhile but I’ll be pretty miserable  in the meantime. 

I was talking to Chococolatechip about her bb problem. She was saying that she will have to throw out and replay e bedding. Also she will have additional laundry expense. I told her to keep the $25:I do not need an Amazon gift card. But Chocolatschip will need every penny to cover additional costs. 

I tried reading my book before supper. But I fell asleep Also, I couldn’t keep my mind off Chocolatschip and her bb problems. She was telling me all the stuff she has to do for the exterminator. I felt overwhelmed listening to her There is no way she can get everything done by tomorrow. She plans on working most of tomorrow to prepare I felt so sorry for her.

Well another day is coming to an end. I don’t think I’ll do any reading tonight Lack of sleep is catching up with me. There is always tomottow
