Thursday 6/8/23

5:19a.m Well, I’m above the dirt. I had a weird dream last night. I wash a big shot real estate developer in New York City.. I was. Making this really huge and fancy office/ apartment complex.. I was up against my rival and business enemy. We were face to face against each other trying to steal each others money. I was winning most of the battles until he said this project will ruin. E. He will live to see me broke and ruined

Besides the weird dream I had a decent night. Care was good. . Are ide came in to check on me and changed my brifs around 3:30am. I experienced minimum pain. . EThey got me out of bed at five. So I’m above the dirt and blessed with another day.

I called Chocolatechip after I was in my wheelchair. She said somebody wash knocking on her door after she went to bed. It was Moocher Eddie. He said he was going to the hospital and wanted a container. Chocolatechip didnShe’t have anything. But she was able to get back to Bed Then she said she had a dream about being married to Donald Trump. They got divorced. He was going to give her some money but Chocolatechip said to keep it. We talked briefly then she wanted to make coffee.

I did a little reading last night. Iread a few pages but didn’t make much progress. I read about James Otis and Paxton’s case or the famous Writs of Assistance case. The author talked about the history of writs in English Law and the different types. It was interesting but I made little progress. I got sleepy and fell asleep

8:01a.m. I had a good breakfast of toast, scrambled eggs and oatmeal. I also had that all important cup of coffee and orange juice. Aide cleaned up my room after I ate.my stuff was still packed in boxes from when they moved me. I desperately need my briefs changed but the aides are making their rounds. They might get to me by next week

In short I am having a typical morning at the nursing home. I gotj a good breakfast. Arthritis pain is at a minimum. My mood is up and I got a good night’s sleep. So what if I have to sit I. Urine and feces for a couple hours? That is just par for the course. After three years I should be used to it

9:48a.m I’m a bit mad. First, I’ve been trying to get changed since breakfast. The last time I rang the call light was an hour ago. I was told the aides were making their rounds. After over two hours of sitting in urine and feces I was changed. I don’t care how busy they are there is no excuse. This is just plain neglect. Not getting changed is my biggest gripe

Then I’m mad at myself. For some reason I am having a hard time getting started in my book The Words that Made Us: America’s Constitutional Conversations,1760-1840 by Akhil Reed Amar. I started to read Chapter 1 “Seeds” over again. I keep forgetting the material and have a hard time concentrating. It is very frustrating.

But I’m going to finish Chapter 1 today. I think it is very interesting . It starts out in 1760. King George 11 died in October 27.  Massachusettes did not here of his death and the coronation of the George 111 until the following month. Amar writes that no colony in North America received official news for three months later.

I keep reading how this delay caused a special problems. Should the colonies issue their own Proclamation announcing the new king. If so this could create tension between the British Empire and their North American colonies such as Massachusetts. For if the colonies acted on their own where would it stop?

This is interesting material but my memory is not as good. I get frustrated easily and want to give up. But I’m going to read this chapter and the book if it kills me.

Well, it is 10:30 already. Almost time for the social. I hope somebody comes to get me. I could use a couple cups of coffee They said they would come when passing out menues. I hope they do not forget.

12:43p.m. I made it to the coffee social. I had two cups of coffee and a donut. For lunch they served Scilian roast beef,, Kielbasa, scalloped potatoes green beans and jello for desert. I also had two glasses of chocolate milk. I’m pretty well stuffed.

I was chatting with Chocolatechip and I’m very worried. She does not have food. She was telling me that she made an appointment with the Salvation Army to get a food order to orrow. The problem is she has no transportation. She tried calling her daughters Anne and Theresa but no response. Chocolatechip told me that Anne is brining her some groceries Sunday. But she needs food now!

I do not understand this one bit. Chocolatechip has grocery money. With busses not running transportation is a problem But she can have food delivered via of Walmart.com. We talked about this last night and I thought she was going to give it a try.I myself would rather go this route than get food from the SA. It seems so much easier to have the food delivered.

6:37p.m. I had a good afternoon despite having a few muscle spasms. Aide came in to change me around 2pm. I asked him to put me to bed. I did a lot of reading while in bed. I finished Chapter 1 in my book The Words that Made Us: America’s Constitutional Conversations 1760+1840 by Akhil Reed Amar. It was a very interesting chapter that dwelt on the Writs of Assistance Case of 1761.

I read until five. I finially got ahold of Chocolatechip. She was busy on the phone trying to get a ride to the Salvation Army to tomorrow. Her daughter Anne brought down some perogies. Anne will bring more groceries Sunday. I’m glad her family is helping. I said don’t be giving out food to anyone. She is not.

I talked about my afternoon and the book I was reading. I also talked about that girl who talked to me yesterday. Her name is Emily. I told Emily about having a girlfriend and would never cheat. Emily wasn’t as friendly today. She sat with me but spent most of the time talking to another guy. I said to Chocolatechip I always tell them up front about you. Besides Emily is way too young for me.

Chocolatechip also talked about her trip to her doctor. Everything went well. She was telling me a story about her van driver. The van driver told Chocolatechip about how he was in jail one time. She thought that was very strange. I said that Blessed Transportation has some weird drivers. Maybe he just was lonely and wanted to talk to someone.

We had a nice conversation. We talked until 6:30 This is her bedtime. I’m going to stay up and try to read another chapter in my book ThebWords that Made Us.
