Sunday 5/12/24

7:32a.m. I had the granddaddy of all nightmares. It was about my nephew Rich.He came to my parents house one night drunk. Unknown to me they hired him to do repairs around the house. He made a mess everywhere. I kept yelling at him get the hell out! But he would not listen. Then there were these old women. One was making my bed. The other was taking apart my computer. I called both of them bitches and screamed at them to get out.

Rich and these women would not listen. In the end they trashed the place. I got into a fist fight with Rich. I’m not sure what happened next.. I think he fell off the front porch. He claimed to have broken his nose but he looked ok to me. I then screamed at him Get the hell out several times. I woke up screaming after that. I had crazy dreams all night long. I will never forget this last dream. It was horrible.

I am above the dirt. I had my orange juice and drank a hot cup of coffee. My stomach was acting up so I refused the breakfast tray. I talked with Chocolatechip. Her knee was bothering her. She put on some muscle rub and that helped. Other than that she seemed ok. We just talked for a few minutes.

Life is good. Despite the bad night I’m going to have a good day. I’m going to spend it reading and talking with Chocolatechip..

9:21a.m. I’ve been laying in bed waiting for the aides to get me dressed. I dozed off and on a few times. I tried to read but was just too tired. I did talk with Chocolatechip. She reported seeing bugs in her apartment. She doesn’t know what kind. Chocolatechip said she was bug free until she started going to bingo. She said she isn’t going anymore. She also talked said she will tell Kim or Stacy tomorrow.

We also talked about a visit. It looks like the 27th is good. I said I’ll have to cancel my lunch date with Biden. Chocolatechip said she will bake some oatmeal cookies. I said that would be great and they shouldn’t bother my stomach. I cannot wait to see her!

The aides were here. They got me dressed and in my wheelchair. They were nice and did a good job. I can’t bitch about the care today.

11:44a.m. I’m at the Fiesta Room for lunch. They are serving meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy and a dinner roll. I did a lot of reading this morning. I’m halfway finished with Chapter 7. This chapter is about the first days battle at Gettysburg . It is very interesting.

I talked with Chocolatechip before I left my room. She finished a large load of laundry. She was contemplating about buying a movie this month. I said go for it. But instead she decided to watch Overboard with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. That was a very good choice.

I just ate my lunch. I ate the meatloaf and green beans. I could not stomach the potatoes. They were ice cold runny and had no taste. At least the coffee was hot.

1:30p.m.l Lunch made me very sick with extreme constipation. It is very very painful for me to poop.j I’ve been going through this for an hour, since I got back from lunch. I think the worse part is over. But I feel very weak and tired plus joints are hurting. I desperately need my briefs changed and I’ll would love to go to bed. But I won’t get any help for a couple of hours. The damned aides will not answer my call light.

2:20p.m.I’ll be damned. I didn’t have to wait after all. The aide answered my call light. She wasn’t very friendly but she got me in bed, undressed me, changed my briefs and cleaned me up. She did a good job. I feel much better. Now I can go back to my book.

3:44p.m. Right now I’m waiting to get changed. I’ve been peeing a river. I was hoping to get changed before supper. The aide just told me she is doing her rounds so it will be awhile. I’m soaked but I’ll be laying in urine for some time.

I managed to finish Chapter 7 in Gettysburg. I’d like to get on with the next chapter. But it is very hard to concentrate while laying in pee. I’m pretty miserable again but what the hell. This is par for the course.

I’ll be damned again. The aide just changed me. I told her she is on the ball .

5:31p.m. I’m having three cheese pizza and a salad for supper. I’ve been laying in bed waiting for my meal. Once again I’ve been peeing a river. It isn’t the aides fault this time. As soon as she changes my briefs I start peeing again. It is so humiliating for a 72 year old man who can’t control his bladder. Still I’m in a good mood and looking forward to pizza.

I have been talking to Chocolatechip. She was watching videos on YouTube.We were talking about this one artist, Gretchen Wilson. We both of liked this one song she did called Red Neck Woman. Then there was the great Tanya Tucker. My favorite of hers was Delta Dawn. I will never forget how we used to listen to videos on YouTube together. We sure did had it made.

Well it is 6:45. I’m still waiting for my pizza. Supper is late. I swear they slack on the weekends.

8:00p.m. I had two pieces of pizza and a dish of pears for supper. It was ok.. I had another painful bm. I rang the call light and I didn’t have long to wait. The aide did a good job. I talked briefly with Chocolatechip. We said our goodbyes. I’ve been reading Chapter 8;in my book. I’m almost finished with this chapter.

8:50p.m. I read two chapters today! I just finished Chapter 8. It was about the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg fought on July 1,1863. The Gods of war smiled on Confederate forces that day but they suffered terrible losses. Union army was forced to cede the town of Gettysburg but they maintained control of the high ground south of it. This was a very good chapter.
