Saturday 10/21/23

9:44a.m. I had a good night for a change. I do not remember any weird dreams. Also, I received decent care. Aides came in a couple of times to change my briefs. They got me up at five today. The aides were not too friendly but they did a good job. They cleaned me up, changed my briefs, dressed me and put me in my wheelchair.

I had the usual morning. I slept in my chair until they served breakfast drinks. Coffee and oj were just not enough to wake me up. Neither was breakfast. I had an apple cake and cold scrambled eggs. I chatted with Chococolatechip after I ate. She was feeling better but still felt weak. But she was washing bedding. God bless her heart.

I could not wake up in the morning. I fell asleep again I slept until nine o’clock I was ready for the coffee social. So I made my way to the Fiesta Room. I had a ration of coffee and two pieces of cake. The coffee and snacks did the trick. I’m above the dirt. Life isl good.

10:54a.m. I didn’t stay too long at the social. I only get one cup. Sometimes I hardly think it is worth that he trip. I have to pushed h myself down a very long hallway Then the staff and other residents are not too friendly. It isn’t much of social because nobody talks to me. I sit by myself and read or write in my journal. I wouldn’t bother except I’m addicted to caffeine.

I never was much of a social type of guy. I never had too many friends in my life. I was happiest reading books. Books were my true friends until Chococolatechip came into my life. Even now I get very anxious around a crowd. I would rather be by myself with a good book than do anything else.

3:31p.m. I had a good lunch. They served a Philly cheese steak sandwich, tater tots and a brownie for desert. I had a cup of coffee and a glass of chocolate milk for drink. I talked a ?of with Chococolatechip this morning afternoon. She cancelled her appointments with the Salvation Army. She wants to catch up on her housework. She also said that she worked out a budget. She can buy a twin bed airbed in November plus get me a $25 Amazon gift card. I said I want you to get a good airbed. She said both are doable.

We talked for a long time then I had business with an aide. I desperately needed changed and wanted to go to bed. I don’t want to go into detail but the CNA in had was a piece of work. She walked away in the middle of her job. I screamed for help and got yelled at for screaming. But in the end I got what I needed and that’s what counts.

After I was changed and put in bed I talked with Chococolatechip again. She was feeling bad because she had no money for Christmas. Chococolatechip said she wanted this year to be special. But it looks like she might not be able to afford a Christmas tree. I said it isn’t your fault because you had to get rid of everything. It is what’s in your heart that counts.

We talked and chatted almost all afternoon. I’m glad to report that Chocolatschip is feeling much better. She talked about how she did a load of laundry this morning. Then she swept her floors and dusted the entire apartment. She also rested and watched a movie Coal Miner’s Daughter. I said you still need to take it easy but she talked about doing more work tomorrow.

I intended to read but I got to talking with Chococolatechip. I also had that run in with the aides. That took up a good deal of time. I was talking to Chococolatechip saying how I get tired of putting up with the shitty attitudes of some of these CNA’S. I mean I almost had to beg for ice water today. These people need to get a job at Walmart. Dealing with this did not put me in the mood for reading!

7:06p.m. I had a ham steak, sweet potatoes, green beans, a dinner roll and cinnamon apples for supper.It was pretty good. I ate it all and did not get bloated. I called Chocolatechip after I ate. We talked for a little bit. She was tired and wanted to go bed. Then I started reading The Wastelands by Stephen King. It picks up where The Drawing of the Three ends. King got !e hooked again after only a few pages I’m going back to my book and read goodnight
