It’s a dog eat dog world, and guess who’s wearing Milkbone underwear. Well it’s not as bad as it sounds. I just need to vent for a few minutes. Yesterday I was informed that I’ll be working 12-hour shifts until further notice. They’re saying maybe a year or more. Granted, it’s Monday thru Thursday, with long weekends off, but the way I see it, I’ll need the weekends just to catch up on everything that won’t get done during the work week. And chances are that from time to time we’ll be expected to pull a few Friday’s taboot. Rats. This is no kinda life. I hope it doesn’t last as long as predicted. Thankfully my job is much less physical. Sometimes…… I really really want to be retired.
Speaking of physical, tomorrow I’m going back to my spine doctor. Something isn’t right – again. There is way too much pain, especially in the morning. I’m going to ask for an MRI. Even though they’re expensive, it is the only real way to get the whole picture. Too many things aren’t picked up by X-ray. I hope my doc agrees.
On the up side, I’ve procured tickets to a Sarah McLachlan concert, scheduled for September. She has such a sweet voice. I’m thrilled to be able to see her in concert. Now I have to buy her new CD and check it out.
I have joined a “wellness” committee at work. We’re calendaring events for the year, and I volunteered to head a project on stress. If anyone has any ideas or resources I might be able to use, lay it on me. I have a few ideas, and I’ll make a few calls locally, but I’d love to have several days worth of information to share, a little at a time. Don’t want to overwhelm anyone right into a stress attack.</FONT </

Sorry to hear you are having back problems. Is your mattress still good? Sometimes a new mattress is in order. Stress? Meditation. Journaling. Support group. Delegating. Exercise.

Yuk on the 12 hour days! 🙁 I’ve never understood why companies schedule that way. Tests have shown that productivity sucks by the 8th hour. Hoping for some answers and relief with your back. Stress? Walk. Music. Xanax. Big hug, P. at

wow! I hope it only lasts a couple of weeks rather than what they expected. Get to the dr! If you’re hurting there’s a reason.

A long stretch of bending over stuff brought so much lower back pain I could hardly walk in an upright stance. My son noticed and brought me a lumbar support. Eureka! That big wide belt got me back walking normal-like by the next day. I wore it for several days more to make sure of the “cure”. That was ~3 months ago & no more back problems. I’m careful to not strain that place now!

Yuck! That does NOT sound like a work schedul I’d like. As for the stress…….well….the only resource I have there is my bottomless wellspring SOURCE of stress – probably NOT what you were looking for.

12- hour shifts are bearable but looking forward to a year of them would be discouraging.. Good luck there.
