well here we are on thursday eve, and another week has gone by and nothing has been accomplished in the house. also, i was supposed to have my final interview with that job on tuesday and to shake hands on the deal and all that, but the guy canceled and said he had food poisoning and we would have to wait until june. and then today, i got a call from that stupid other job that was ‘not a match’. a courtesy call to tell me it was ‘not a match’. what a bunch of assholes, a whole month later. the bank account is looking slim, hopin that unemployment starts coming soon.
i should really, really be freaking out. but i’m not. just sort of floating through the days, filling the sunlight hours with gardening and the evening hours with reading about flowers. riding bikes, walking the neighborhood, and driving outside of ‘where we’ve been’ to see what’s there when weather and moods are suitable. in my gut, i know things will work out… if this guy and his company isn’t the answer for me, then i’ll figure out something else. for now, though, i’ll just enjoy my time off and try to be smart about what money gets spent.
so since i don’t have any news, here are some garden photos for you. can you blame me that i’m throwing myself into this instead of worrying? (sorry for the instagram and facebook repeats, i really don’t have a whole lot going on )
Mama’s been spending a lot of time in the sun lately. Here we have phlox and columbine. you can see my rose bush in the top left, too. my first rose bloomed today – they are white!
my very first peony to bloom.. sunday, i think. i made a bouquet of six of these, and it still looks like i cut it this morning. as you’ll see soon, i’ve made quite a few more since. i’ve made 4 bouquets of 6, and i still have about 24 more out there that have just bloomed or haven’t yet. i’m in awe of them.
these were the second batch of bouquets that went over to Harold’s house yesterday. i somehow didn’t manage to get a photo of the first bouquet…
this is taken from the alley… if you look close in this one, you can see some of my veggie garden peeking out as well. fyi – that’s my back door (obv), but we rigged the little white twisted wire fence to have easy access to Harold’s back door and garden, since we’ve been keeping up with that as well. these were the flowers that went into my first bouquet, incidentally. oh also, i put that bird bath in over memorial day weekend. it hasn’t taken with the robins yet, but as the days get hotter and dryer, i’m certain it will.
Here’s my set up, right next to the back door. Some neighbors across the alley gave us two rain barrels that they were tossing. one will eventaully be hooked up into a gardening car with one of the farm sinks we pulled out of the house. until then, i’ll use these weird little makeshift tables that jimmy left behind. i’ll probably paint them though, this pee yellow paint is a theme throughout the property, inside and out. This picture was taken this morning, I spent all morning out there, until the sun got too hot and i came in and napped.
and today’s spoils. this one is way more out of focus than i’d like it to be, but you get the idea. i kept all but one of these – gave one of the peony bunches to a funny czech neighbor who one day i’ll write about. the rest are scattered about the house. with each wave of blossoms, the peonies are getting brighter. the phlox is almost spoiled, and the columbine are on their last days. next wave of flowers will be roses, another round of phlox, delphinium, yarrow, and a few i’ve not been able to identify yet. of course, photos will be taken. sorry to have bored you, this is just what’s filling my head. first thing i said to boy, in fact, this morning was "hi honey, how are my peonies? i’ve got flowers on my mind…"
cheers!
They are SO lovely.
