Operation Love

Have you ever regretted for what you did in the past? Did you ever want to change the past? There is a Japanese TV drama I watched recently about this. The drama is called “Operation Love”.

It is about a guy who met an elf in a girl’s wedding party. The guy and the bride have been friends for 14 years but the guy never showed his love to her. The elf who lived in the wedding ballroom showed sympathy to the guy. He decided to help the guy by bringing him back to the old days so that the guy could show his love to make a different ending.

But for the first time, the second time, the third time, all the way to the tenth time when he went to the past, the guy did fail to express his love. After a lot of failure, the guy understood there is no use regretting for the past because it passes already. There is no point in changing the past but the present. Therefore, when the guy was back to the wedding party, he delivered a love speech to the bride. And the same time, the bride understood it was never too late if she wanted to change, and that made a good ending.

At the beginning, I think the story is not good especially when I see the guy failed to express his love again and again. He was too silly to miss every single chance when he was back to the old days. I was so angry for the guy. But when I realized the meaning of the story, I found the story was good. It tells people not to regret for the past, not to say words like “If I was in the past, I would have done this / I would have done better”. The past is not important, what we have to change is the present, it is never too late to change if you want to.

I think the meaning conveyed is very good. In my diary, I always mention I miss the old days and I want to have my old life again and that was why I restart my diary. But the more I write, the more I realize it is impossible. What I can only do is to change the present, to write up more entries for the future. But for the past, I could do nothing about it. I couldn’t get back to the old days and I realize the PAST IS NOT COMING BACK.  All I have to do now is to look forward and I will do my best from now on so that I won’t regret in the future.
