Development Day

Today was the school development day, the kids don’t have to go to school, and so as the teachers because we have an outdoor development day at the Sok Ku Wan today.

At 8:30am, we met at the central ferry pier heading to a country island (I forgot the name). Then we started a long long walk for about one and a half hour to a another place called Sok Ku Wan. It was the first time I went hiking with my colleagues. We walked and walked, up and down and went by a numbers of hills. Hopefully the weather was good today, not so shiny and not so hot. We could feel the breeze when we walked along the sea.

At 11:30pm, we finished our walk and settled down for a seafood meal. Wow, the meal was very good, maybe we were so hungry, we had shrimps, oysters, fish, lobsters and so on. After finishing the meal, we went to visit the so-called village exhibition which we needed to take a boat to. The exhibtion was actually on the sea, it was like a big place on the sea with exhibition rooms, a real fishing boat and a lots of fish and seafood raising areas for us to see. We had a tour guide explaining the village lives and the sea animals to us. At last, we could also go fishing for one time with our tickets. It was so funny.

I thought the exhibition was good. I have never been in a real boat before, never got a chance to see what’s inside, the sitting room, the bedroom, the kitchen and everything was so small and simple. Then we came to the top of the boat to raise the big flat up, just like the fishermen sailing to the sea. It was a very special experience for me.

The development day ended at around 5pm in Central. Although I was tired for hiking and visiting, I was happy.  Maybe what we saw today may not be likely related to our teaching, I did benefit a lot.
