Welcome home Medhia!
Today was an emotional day. For whatever reason, I turned off my Do Not Disturb mode on my phone, it starts at 1 a.m. and ends at 10 a.m. This morning at about 9:30 a.m. the vet phoned to let me know Medhia’s ashes had arrived.
A quick look at the temperature and it was cold out. At nine this morning it was – 37 CC; -34.6 F, and I decided I was going to wait. It was freezing too cold. However, as the morning went on, I couldn’t leave Medhia at the vet until it got warmer and stopped snowing on Monday. She wasn’t going to stay at the vets any longer than necessary.
Medhia loved being outside, so I bundled up and made the ten-minute trek to get her. I carried her home like the feline princess she is, and she is now sitting in a temporary spot with her kill sock. I’m still unsure where to permanently put her.
Her kill sock was the way I knew she was getting sicker. For fifteen-years, Medhia would loudly steal laundry and proudly bring it to me as if it was somehow a gift. Later in her life; mostly because I hid my laundry, this sock became her toy. It was always laying around the house in some strange area as she carried it from spot to spot. The last two weeks of her life, it didn’t move. Now she has it again to play with.
When I first got home, I was talking with a friend and trying not to get all choked up about all of this. I was able to keep it together then, now not so much. I underestimated how emotional this moment would be. With my dog, four other cats, and two people it wasn’t as emotional; or from what I recall at least.
Medhia is home again where she spent fifteen loving years
@Axalotal: I am very glad Medhia is home And has her Kill sock!! Yes, it is emotional and you are correct. I know you’ll find the best place to place her!!! Stay warm and have a good day.

I’m so sorry about Medhia…losing a beloved animal companion is very emotional. Like you, I’ve enjoyed and lost many pets but that never makes this time easier.

And there she will spent the rest of your life. Welcome home Medhia.

Welcome home Medhia. I wish I could lessen your loss but I cannot. May she continue to give you happy memories as she frolicks in the afterlife. If there are socks, and I bet there are, she’s collected quite a stash already.
Thanks @middleagepearl I never thought of that. Medhia loved being outside and eating fresh grasses. That’s what I’ve always pictured her doing. But you are right, hopefully she has lots of socks to hide and kill.
