Standing in awe of my Creator, I seek that which is unseen. He WAS, long before I came to be. He WILL BE, long after I am gone. The hand which created this earth and flung the stars and planets into their orbits is the self-same hand by which I was created. The God Who calls the stars by name, is the same God Who tenderly whispers my own name on the night wind. There is a music that exists for those who have ears to hear it.

A New Song Just Past the Horizon Part IV

January 12, 2014
And so, Sissy began to talk, haltingly at first but then the words (and tears) began to flow. Out it all came; growing up in a home where sexual abuse by our father was the norm, and with a mom whom (I suspect) felt powerless to deal with it and so she just didn't. How Sissy…

Just for fun, Doctor Concerned sent Sissy's prescription (via computer) to a different pharmacy rather than the one near my house that we asked her to send it to. After we had waited for almost an hour for her medicine, my sweet pharmacist finally located the prescription across town at Target. B...

Sissy sat in my living room on a Friday afternoon last fall; we both knew she was not doing well. She was starting to spiral downward, and having taken herself off of all her medicine, she was having trouble sleeping as well. Her current doctor was almost out of ideas. Sometimes when patients don...

  • A New Song Just Past the Horizon, Part I
    January 6, 2014
We sat in the waiting room together, Sissy and I, this past Monday morning. This appointment was long overdue, and even though watching her cry was painful for me, I knew it was the right place for us to be. She didn't want to be there but I knew, in fact, we should have been there...

Some things that I still deal with, I don't write about here, but I have some private and personal covenants with my Heavenly Father. One of those has to do with healing. I don't spend a lot of time dwelling on the physical symptoms that I still deal with, left-overs from the illnes...

Another autumn has come and gone, another Thanksgiving, another birthday.... Time keeps moving along whether I am ready or not; the Potter's wheel continues to spin and I continue to feel the hands of the Potter re-shaping me yet again. There was a time in my life when this molding and shaping wa...

I can't remember a more beautiful autumn; the trees are spectacular this year, in shades of gold and bronze and orange. A hint of woodsmoke hangs in the air, and the nights are cold and clear. I have to think God loves this season, to spend so much time in the details. We spent last…

  • Who Knows Where the Time Goes**
    October 23, 2013
Back in the 70's, when I was a fledgling singer at a coffeehouse, there was a Judy Collins song called "Who Knows Where the Time Goes." I was 18 years old then, thought I knew everything,  but actually knew nothing of time. Now I sing that song to Emmi as I rock her gently to ...

The days here have been miserable; temperatures soaring into the high 90`s, with 100% humidity. The cats lie in soggy heaps on the porch, their furry sides panting with the exertion of just breathing, too exhausted to chase the rabbits and lizards that live in the woods. This afternoon brought a ...

I dreamed about my house again last night. Not the sweet cabin by the woods where I live, but my other house. The house I've never seen except in dreams. I first dreamed of this house in the 1970's, and down through the past 30 years, I have probably dreamed of it more than 50…
