I was born in 1934 in Nottingham, England, When I would tell my students this, and that it was the town associated with Robin Hood, there was always some smart-alecky seventh grader who would ask me if I knew Robin Hood. The answer is, of course, "No, he was before my time---very slightly!"
I taught seventh graders in the same rural school in Mississippi for thirty years which means that when I was near retirement, I was teaching the children of my former students.
I came to the States in 1963 and until recently, I was the owner of an original green "green card." {They are no longer green these days.}
I now live in sin in Vermont with a man I met on the Internet!
{I love throwing that line out!]
Fred and I "met" online when I advertised looking for a pen-pal. Gradually, over the course of the next year, we became more and more fond of each other, and almost six years ago, I moved up here to Vermont and here I have been ever since.
I am 70-and-spitting-distance-of-71 as of this writing; he is 77. After nearly seven years together, I still find him interesting and he can still make me laugh...

So, Here I am.
February 16, 2018
I haven't decided to move here permanently but it is interesting to come here and read some of my old entries. I started reading the entries I have before I had the bowel surgery and what strikes me most is how much energy I had back then. Age and surgeries have dragged me down until many…Continue Reading... -

The Penultimate Appointment**
January 5, 2014
Jake and I went to the penultimate appointment today, the last one before the surgery. It was very well organized. We were whisked from the front waiting area to a guy who typed everything there is possible to know about my medical condition into a computer. It seems to me that they were very wel...Continue Reading... -

They are, as always, about teaching a class I have never met before and being totally unprepared! In real life this has never happened to me since I was, if anythin...Continue Reading... -

I am just letting days pass until the 20th which is when I have surgery. There is a pre-surgery meeting on the 6th and, apparently I get to talk to the anesthesiologist. Usually I am asked if I have any problems with anesthetic to which I say no and that is it. When Jake was…Continue Reading... -

I hope everyone had a nice Boxing Day. Jake came over on Christmas Day and we exchanged gifts. My older son in MS also called me later in the day as did Fred's daughter in Vermont. Today the plan was that I go over to Jake's house to see the changes he has made after…Continue Reading... -
Surgery Date
December 23, 2013
I have a surgery date. January 20th. On the whole, I am happy that I actually HAVE a date! {It sounds a bit weird even to me to be happy about a surgery date but, you all know how long-drawn-out this whole thing has been. And, again, I find myself thinking I DON'T have cancer.…Continue Reading...
