Weekend

One thing about weekends: When you are retired, the weekends are much like the weekdays.  Can’t tell one day from the next.  I have to keep a calendar close by so I can check several times a day what day it is…unless I have an activity planned for the day.

This past week, I was heavily booked and had to cancel out going to the horse races yesterday in favor of a rest day.  Was having some light headedness issues and just wasn’t up to the hassle of going anywhere.  I did walk down the hall to our library and return a book.  Did a little dusting, read some, cooked brunch and dinner, watched a movie, played on the computer.

TMI!  With so much information out there, I was tempted to see what I could find out about light headedness symptoms.  Seems my symptoms match up with sinus infection, low blood pressure and low blood sugar, for starters, along with many more complicated conditions.  Any of these three could be possible in my case.  I’m not going to try to out-guess the doctor though.  I have an appointment a week from Monday to see her for my 6-month follow.  I will just pay attention to what I’m doing, take time to rest, use my cane when I go out and eat better. I feel pretty good this morning.

We are having couples’ bridge at our house tonight.  Need to get Papa to run the vacuum.  I will swipe the bathroom.  We have to set up two tables for cards and organize some snacks and dessert.  I’m thinking peach pie…either from Village Inn or Marie Callander.  No, I don’t bake pie…and ice cream.

I see next week is booked pretty solid again.  Dinner theater Monday, audiologist appt. Tuesday, Luau at the club house Thursday and Fab 50’s Friday.  Wednesday is Rusty’s 16th birthday, but I don’t really have to do anything for that other than find him a card and stuff it with cash.

We still have to get over to the furniture store and straighten out the issue of the mattress for the trundle not fitting.  They are either going to have to get us one that’s skinny enough and "good" enough and/or give us some money back.  I guess we have to work that out with the salesman who sold it to us and there are so many salesmen in that store, I don’t know how we are going to coordinate with the particular one…  Oh, well, I’m sure it’s all in the computer and any one of them should be able to help us.

I see my coffee cup is empty, so I’d better get this day started, if I am going to have time for "rest" breaks.

Hope your weekend is restful or exciting, whichever you prefer.

Hope your lightheadedness goes away. I have some of that associated with an inner ear thing. Seems like as we get older we get more and more wrong with us.

I hope the light headness is something simple. I’ll be over if there is any peach pie left.

I’m surprised you don’t bake pies. You seem like the type 😉 I LOVE peach pie, but don’t get it very often. No one else likes it, so I have to eat the whole thing myself… lol Glad you decided to rest… your life makes me tired 😉

I can relate to not knowing what day of the week it is today. Working crazy hours at Wal-Mart keeps me busy and “lost” with the day of the week. It is Sunday today, and I feel like I haven’t had a weekend! I worked after school Friday night – 5:30 to 10pm. I was exhausted! I worked yesterday and now today. I need a nap, but I just woke up! Thinking about it tires me out!

Hope you got to take some of those rest breaks…and it’s really nice knowing that you guys are so filled with life these days. Just remember to take some timeouts and just unwind a bit…even play can wear us out you know. 😉

I fought dizziness for over a year. Turned out stopping the vertigo medication and adjusting some of my meds solved the problem. If you feel dizzy take your cane. I had five bad falls last year. Now I’m fine. Rest breaks are essential. It just feels so nice to take naps. :0) *Hugs*
