Unexpected pleasure

Got a call today from our friend Will.  A couple who used to do taxes with us before they moved to Oregon last summer are in town and Will was trying to round up the group who worked together to go out to  dinner.  It was good to see everybody, especially the Oregonians.  Food was good–a family-owed Italian (real) restaurant.  Crowded and noisy like every place in town on a Friday night.  We finally had to give up our tables (there were 11 of us in all) and stood around on the sidewalk, hating for the party to end…but then it started to rain.  Not enough to do any good, but old folks don’t much like to stand around in the rain.

Before we went to meet our friends, we went to the ice cream social at our events center.  They cut the ribbon on the new bridge and we marched across to the tune of a bagpipe.  Was kind of fun.

Earlier in the day, Dusty and Rusty came to get our old kitchen table and chairs.  We had them in our storage locker.  Dusty needs them for his new apartment at college.  We’ve been saving them for him.  And our lovely leather LaZboy sofa has been waiting for him at his parents house since we moved.  He took a spare bed from our house before we even really got started with the downsizing.  He should be pretty well fixed up now.  And I’ve got a lot more room.

The "trip" schedules came out today.  We got all the ones we wanted.  I should clarify:  If enough people sign up they take another bus or van.  Advance tickets have to be purchased way ahead for some events, so only as many can go as there are tickets available for.  Does that make sense?  If you sign up and have to cancel, they will try to fill the spot from the wait list.  Otherwise, you are responsible for the charges.  Seems fair to me.

It is supposed to cool off a little the next several days.  For some reason 89 seems so much cooler than 91….

I hope it will stop raining here and cool off. You should see this campground. Puddles all over the grass…………..

Glad you got to enjoy your old friends. Also glad you got the trips you wanted.

Sounds like a pretty good time, and spending time with old friends is always a good time. 🙂 Hey, I think the younger ones don’t care for the rain, either. Well, at least the ones only as young as me anyway… 😉 You have a great weekend now. Can’t see how you won’t with all the stuff you guys do….
