It’s Christmas!

Well, it is Christmas where I come from.  Our tradition has been that Christmas is celebrated on Christmas Eve with worship, food and gifts.  When there were small kids, Santa came during the night, and Christmas morning belonged to the little ones.  Since our "baby" is 16 now, I’m not sure Santa will wait until everybody is asleep….

I finally got the "plan" from DIL last night.  Church at 5:00.  Then dinner, then gifts at their house.  Home in bed early, and sleep in.  Late brunch over there and no (!) big meal.  It all suits me very well, but I hope to slip out before brunch and go to church for communion.

It used to be so much work–not that I didn’t love it!–for me to "make" Christmas for my family.  These days I find contentment in the meaning and peace of the season.

Missing those family members who are far away, and remembering those who have gone on to be with the Lord…especially two cousins who passed on just last week…

I’d like to take this means to wish all who read this on OD the Peace of the Holy Birth this Christmas Day!  Being back here is a Christmas miracle.

     Love,  Mary Jane (aunty EM)
