Since When Did We Have Practice?!

Last night, I got home from Sean’s at 1, got online, aol was being an ass-fuck like usual and started kicking me off 5 times in a few minutes. Well, I got back on, wrote the last entry and called it a night about 2 or so.

Next thing I know, it’s 10:15 in the morning. I’m still in bed, the phone rings, I have it on my side table and I look at it, don’t recognize the number so I didn’t bother to answer it. I put the phone down and close my eyes attempting to go to sleep again. 2 seconds later, my mom comes in and says, “Someone from school just called. They said Drumline practice is about start”  I’m in total shock. I’m like “Are you KIDDING ME” I couldn’t believe it. I had absolutely no idea there was practice.

So I jumped outta bed, got dressed as fast as I could in pretty much the closet thing that was clean, attempted to fix my hair, brushed my teeth and we left. Got to school at 10:30 (same time as Bobby Nash, one of the instructer guys). So I wasn’t that late but I still was. I hate being late to things. Urgh. I felt soo bad too.

Since I’m in the auxiliary, we’ve got a lot of stuff we use. Luckily for me, the others in it had everything in a practice room in the back hallway. They were building the cage that we use to hold e/t during the competition. Well, I should say Kurt and Matt and sorta Bruce were building theirs. Melissa G, Lizzie and I couldn’t build ours (ours will be built next saturday). We did help them tho.

We stayed back there until almost 12, then moved out into the band room and played with the rest of the pit. We worked until after 12, then Bobby told us to go to lunch 15 minutes early and to be back there to go over our new parts at 1:15. Everyone else’s lunch was from 12:30 to 1:30. I was gonna wait for Nikki, even tho I forgot to grab any money on my way out, I’d still go with her. But she said she was gonna s/w with Matt, Andy, Chad and Greg but we could all squeeze in her little car. So not what I wanted to do. I’d go with them, that part would be fun, just not trying to get all of us in the car. So I went with Melissa and Bruce to Taco Bell and then a lot of people got there a little later. It wasn’t that bad.

Got back. Got our new parts. Wasn’t bad. The best part of the saturday rehearsals, I noticed (at least today anyways) is that since the battery is learning drill and spending all their time in the cafeteria with Mr. Nelson and the drill guy, his name is Chris i think… Is we, the pit, get to spend all day with Chad. Just Chad. He’s cool, not mention really hot. Bobby took the marimbas out in the hall to work with them for most of the rehearsal after lunch so he wasn’t in there much at all.

About 4, we moved e/t down to the cafeteria to play with the battery. Finally, we got to see the drill. I’ve been wondering what it’d be like. They only got thru the opener I think. Which is still really good for one day. It seemed to go past kinda fast. Sounds awesome tho. Then we pulled it in at 4:30 and sat there while Tilf, Chad, Corey, this Chris guy, and Bobby talk. MMM… Chris was explaining s/t and said “in a nutshell…” and Tilf pretended to be in one. It was so funny. Nikki woulda liked to have seen that but she had to leave early for work.

They also explained part of the uniforms. All we know is that the snares will be wearing beaters (tank tops) and white scrubs. But they won’t really by white. B/c they’ve pretty much described the show as this crazy guy just killed someone and now he’s gonna try and prove to you he’s not really crazy. Btw, if you didn’t already know, it’s based on the Tell-Tale Heart. And then they mentioned their hair would look all dirty and they’re just supposed to look crazy and grungy.

I wanna help paint the tarps too. That’ll be cool. I am so stoked! Our 1st performance is in a little over 2 weeks at the Jazz Concert. So we gotta figure out a lotta stuff by then. It’s gonna be tough. I’m still sorta dreading what our uniforms will be… ugh… There’s practice on tuesday so I guess I’ll have to wait and see if they decided on anything else.
