Never Noticed Before

There’s this guy…we’ll call him Dan, he used to be in band. He wasn’t in it this year. He joined winter drumline tho. It was cool he came back. I wonder if he will this summer.

Saturday, when we were in the room for Warm-up before the performance. The battery formed their arc and were facing the pit so we were directly across from the snares. I kept looking at Pete and Chad…but I looked over a Dan a few times too. We ran thru the show and there’s a part in the opener with 2 bass drum hits and the snares hit the rims and then their harness and looks really cool. He was a little late and just looked really nervous. I mean, it was his 1st show in a long time…

Skipping ahead, performance is over and we’re moving all our stuff outside to load up (b/c we were leaving right after), we realized “oh shit, everyone is barefoot and only in tshirts” so they told everyone they could run down to our homeroom (the room the school gives us to put our stuff in) and get our stuff. So Me, Dan, Melissa, Lizzie and some others ran down there and by the time we got to hallway the room was in, I was next to Dan and I just came out and asked him if he nervous earlier.

Me: Hey Dan, were you nervous?

Dan: Me? No, I wasn’t nervous. Why?

Me: Oh, you just looked nervous during warmn up

(I thought this was the end of our convo but..)

Dan: It was weird. I was hot but I got the chills.

Me: I know what you mean.

and we both sorta smiled at each other. It was nice. I had been thinking about asking him that earlier but didn’t think I ever actually wood. I mean, We’ve known each other since we were freshmen and we never talked but it just felt so natural. I really wanted to talk to him again.

I didn’t mention this anyone at all last week but on the ride home, I kept thinking about him. Like more than just what else could I ever talk to him about (and there was stuff I wanted to, like if he was ever coming back, did he miss this and just get to know him better) but just him in general. I always thought of him kinda as ‘eh’ but you know, when he pulls his hair back into a pony tail, he’s not that bad looking. Hehe. His hair is as long Before school started this year, i think he still had his braces…i don’t remember when he got them off… but that’s another big + towards him. Yeah, so I sorta/kinda/maybe have an infatuation with him. And of course I see him everywhere, so even after drumline ends, who knows if that will too.

funny thought about him. If he ever has kids, he’ll be a good dad. He’ll already know how to do his daughter’s hair.
