Ending a chapter in my life

I’m leaving Bangkok by next month.  I’ll be moving to Korea, where I’ve accepted an offer to coach the high school national debate team.  It’s the end of an era, officially, and I’m a bit nostalgic as the days wind down.

Thailand’s been good to me.  It’s been about 3 and a half years already, and I have to say that most of it has been very good indeed.  Great friends, great food, great fun…  what more could a guy ask for?

I guess I’m just at that stage where I really have to find new challenges again.  Thailand is a bit too comfortable for me, and I feel that I’ve accomplished all I can over here. Now there’s a thriving, vibrant debating community, where previously there was none, and people are learning at an exponential rate.  🙂  I’m proud of the people I’ve met here, for taking some of my ideas and running with them, building something greater than I could ever hope for.  They no longer need me… and I, for one, am glad for that.  I will always keep them in my heart.

Now on to new things… hopefully just as exciting and challenging as these last 3 and a half years have been.  I’m already bracing for the culture shock, but I’m really keen on making a mark in South Korea.  We’ll see what the year (or years) ahead has in store for me.  =)

maintaining a life with a degree of challenge is an exciting thing, but when do you think you will be content to stay in one place, if ever? I hope your move goes well, I know you will be a terrific addition to their staff!! *hugs* –
