People misquoting me…Bible misquoting me…
note:
“‘two hands working does more than a thousand clasped in prayer.’
Two thousand hands working together is meaningless if two hands are not clasped together in prayer to God. Jesus said,
“I am the vine and you are the branches. Apart from Me you can do nothing…””
As the second incarnation of Jesus – I can say with confidence that that is a misquote of my words.
Hmmm, I know you got a hard on for religion and everything, but you really should read prayer studies, objective, medical and scientific studies on prayer. Seriously dude. There are results that apparently work better than two hands working.

I know, I know, Where’s your proof? It’s all over the place, but here’s a few to chew on. http://1stholistic.com/Prayer/hol_prayer_proof.htm http://www.heall.com/healingnews/aug/prayer_and_mental_health.html http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=11529395&dopt=Abstract

RtheaboveN: I only read one of the articles listed, but it didn’t mention connection to any specific god or faith, and some of the data seemed to go against the idea of a specific faith. So I’d still be skeptical of people telling me that “Jesus is the only way.”

r the above; You’re absolutely right, most of the research isn’t specific to any given faith, neither does it exclude any given faith. One of the conclusions of some of the more radically studies, however, is that theists are more mentally stable and atheists. Again, nothing about Jesus, but then again I’m not counsel for the defense.

If I belived a man was watching over me all the time and is always gonna help me and make me feel better and give me secuirity and make sure nothing bad happened to me Id feel safer and more mentally stable to. Thats like saying a president with body guards feels safer then one with no body guards. NO SHIT!
Warning Comment
No shit indeed. Another way of stating things, then, would be to say atheists are less mentally stable. Though the dude watching over you is not necessarily included in all theist belief systems. As someone pointed out the studies are not particular to christianity. But you got the point BB, congratulations, you get extra snacks after your nap.

Mental stability, though perhaps not desirable in say a lover or your favorite rock star, is a pretty importent factor in determining the validity of a statement an individual might make as to whether his statements are the height of rationality as many atheists on this site would have you believe.

Incidentally, BB, I’ve been banned from many such diaries for implying the above statement. To ATB’s credit, though he’s gotten mad at me, he has refused to ban me.

“Mental stability…is a pretty importent factor in determining the validity of a statement…” I have always said that claims and statements should be evaluated on their own merits – regardless of who says them.

Haredawg: “atheists are less mentally stable” From whence does this come? Seems to me (according to statistics and news media) that the crazies (read that: drop dead nuts) are, in the main, religious fanatics (i.e. Catholic pedophiles, female serial killers, etc.). Scuze me, but really, think before you think. You’re not stupid by any stretch of the imagination.

So, bum, you’re saying that unstable people make stable statements? That seems a bit like magical thinking to me, unless you mean they can parrot stable statements others have made. Aren’t you the guy who’s into Absolutism? Are you really saying that someone generally unstable in all other aspects of their mental constitution have some savant gift to come up rational, stable statements?
Warning Comment
I don’t think mental stability has anything to do with religious preference (or non-religious preference).
