ethel

i have taken more than a week to write this entry

but perhaps this is due to the six or so years i knew ethel

on monday january 23rd at 6:50 am central time ethel took her last breath

she was like so many people i have met quite extra ordinary

some said she had a seventh grade education

but i know her learning did not stop there.

she knew a great deal

ethel was a lover of people

she told us this came from her love of God

i believe her

she did not stand on convention

she was a biker

and sometimes saint

she had no children of her own

but called everyone baby as you would call the child you love

she had a hug for all who were willing to accept her gift

one story about ethel involves a girl who lost her mother and stopped talking to people

many tried and failed to bring her out by talking to her

ethel simply sat on the girl’s bed until at last the girl spoke to her

did i mention she was a sometimes saint?

she left her husband so he would make the effort to achieve sobriety

that had to be a diffcult gift to give

at least part of the point here

is not to judge a book by its cover

for you do not know what lies beneath in the pages

i will close with a thought

write less, and say more

Her life had purpose and she loved well. And now she’s hanging out with angels. Take care, Anna
