Last Fall Semester of College…
I can’t believe it’s been over a month since I’ve wirtten….So far this semester has been a HUGE improvement from last fall semester. I’m happier, more content…Still stressed, but it’s bearable now.
Moving-in weekend sucked because I was the first to come up to the house and was in charge of setting up NYSEG and Time Warner. I had a ton of stuff to set up, there was a problem with the hot water, the wireless Internet wasn’t working (which Heather’s dad got to work eventually, albeit hard wire) and I was just generally a stressed out person. Everything ended up working out and now I just really love my house. The weather’s cooled down so my room isn’t steamy hot any more and everything is really just falling into place.
Classes are going relatively well…I had my first critique in my Intro to Sculpture class and I did really well with my project. The professor has us working wood right now, and eventually we’ll be working with steel. I’ve never worked with power tools before, much less yet a hammer, so I’m really excited that everything for my project came together.
In my other art class we’re working with clay, which I LOVE, and the professor is pretty helpful and extremely laidback. Sociobiology is interesting enough, and art history is amazingly dull. I hate the professor….
As for Mikey…he’s practically living with me now, which is a drawback and a positive. I wanted to spend more time with him, especially after being apart for three months, but sometimes it gets a little ridiculous. I mean, I don’t want to have to worry about cooking him dinner when I have work to do. Plus, going out to dinner all the time is expensive….but overall I like having him around…I definitely missed him over the summer.
It stinks, but as much as I love being back up here on my own, I miss my family. Becca moved in with Jeff (they live about 40 minutes from my house) and I talk to her pretty often. I got REALLY homesick the second week of school when I found out that everyone was having a family dinner at Becca’s new apartment. I wish I could just move Mike and my friends to Long Island…
