I Hate These Things But…

I hate these dumb surveys, but I figured I’s do a Cliffs Notes summary of my year….

                                              2004 in Review

1. What did you do in 2004 that you’d never done before? Had sex, amongst other things with Henry, tried cocaine, and lived off campus with my friends.

2. Did you keep your New Years’ Resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I think last year’s resolution was to lose my virginity…so good job to me, I guess. I’ve stopped making resolutions because I don’t keep them (like losing weight) and the ones I do make (like losing it) were bound to happen at some point.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Nope.

4. Did anyone close to you die? My grandmother died, but I wasn’t particularly close to her.

5. What countries did you visit? None 🙁

6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004? Be in a stable relationship, keep my GPA afloat, and maintain a balance between grades and partying.

7. What date from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? 4/24/04–my formal.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Getting an internship with a professor who’s submitting a policy paper to the UN.

9. What was your biggest failure? Doing very poorly second semester because I was busy partying. Staying in Binghamton over the summer working a crummy job so I could be with Henry, and then breaking it off with him the night before I got there.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Nope.

11. What was the best thing you bought? Hm. A new house to live in next semester…but I didn’t buy it, I’m renting, so I’m not sure that counts…

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? All of my friends I’ve mentioned this past year, for being there for me.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Christopher and Henry.

14. Where did most of your money go? Alcohol and food.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? My formal, the AXP formal, and moving in next semester with the Murray girls.

16. What song will always remind you of 2004? “With You” and “Someday” by Nickleback.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you happoer or sadder: Sadder I guess. A lot of my friends have graduated, and even though this time last year I was stressed out, I had them to help me. However, I’m happier in the fact that this winter break has been a lot more relaxing than the last one for the most part, since I did better academically, and I don’t have a booy stressing me out.

              Older or wiser: Wiser, absolutely.

Thinner or fatter: About the same

Richer or poorer: Ironically, even though I’m working, I seem to be poorer…..

18. What do you wish you’d done more of? I should say that I wish I spent less time complaining about responsibilities I chose for myself, spent less time stressing over trivial stuff, and hung out more with my friends and worked harder in school. However, if I hadn’t partied like I did and spent it squirreled away in my room with my nose in a book, I would’ve regretted that too. Sooo…fuck it, I’ll keep things as they are with no regrets.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of? See above

20. Did you fall in love in 2004? Fell out of it from 2003 and fell into lust in 2004.

21. How many one-night stands? Zero

22. What was your favorite TV program? Sopranos, Sex and the City, and most recently, Entourage.

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? Henry and Christopher. Although I should probably pity them and laugh.

24. What was the best book you read? Anything by John Grisham.

25. What was your greatest musical discovery? Linkin Park…their newer stuff.

26. What did you want and get? Fun times with my friends.

27. What did you want and not get? A stable relationship with a guy that didn’t want me only for sex and a really high GPA.

28. What was your favorite film(s) of this year? Love Actually.

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 22 and it sucked. My friends mostly didn’t show up bc they went to a free keg instead.

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Getting a high GPA last semester, being with a guy that treated me well, and getting a summer research internship. (I got rejected by all six places I applied to).

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004? Preppy (I’m all about J Crew, Express, and NY & Co., but as for the stuff I wear downtown it’s a lil on the risque side).

32. What kept you sane? My friends, my family, OD, and Jose Cuervo. Smaller contributions from Smirnoff.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? I’m not into diggin the celebs….

34. What political issue stirred you the most? The election that our prejudiced, stupid, ignorant rich kid president bought by playing up the ‘moral values’ issue…WTF?? People elect a president to rn this country based on his moral values?? And by moral values you mean, he’s anti- women’s rights, anti-abortion, pro-dealth penalty, and gung ho for a war we shouldn’t be in taking over a country with people who don’t want us there, and making money for the oil companies with the majority never making a profit from…OK, sorry I’m done. So yeah, the election kinda ticked me off.

35. Who did (do) you miss? Corinne, Tanya, and Big.

36. Who were the best new people you met? Samantha, Mike, and Jennie…Jennie’s one of my new housemates…yay!!

37. Tell us valuable life lesson(s) you learned in 2004: Don’t lose sight of friendships while pursuing a guy.

38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year: “Someday, somehow I´m gonna make it alright, but not right now I know you´re wondering when (You´re the only one who knows that) Someday, somehow I´m gonna make it alright, but not right now…”
