The Origins of Gods

you cannot win at war, teeth torn from a ragged gash
eyes like Oedipus

you’re a king,
you’re a vulture,
you’re a fish

swimming in the bloody dreams of generations
                                   your heroes are the ghosts
that once slew children

Saturn erases his wisdom
with the rape of the earth
                                       and then many years later
                                      the ocean tide shifts

and she gives birth.

I really like this one as well. Especially with everything going on in today’s world…though it’s not a new thing.
