Petroleum Innuendo
silver shivering
I taste crimson chocolate
the leaves waiver in the
collision of gaseous words
she’s enveloped in flame
thrice I watched the match
spark to life
against the ridges
of my perplexing life
every time I am wounded
I fall into the pieces of
hopeless memory
the shadows of conquered
fortresses are the curvature
to my spine
I’m a display piece for
time and arthritis
and she’s hypnotic
breathless, eyeless
the storm whistling
threading my fingers
to weave me slowly
back into the flavor
she tastes me
through that velvet mouth
though I’m polluted
she takes not
one decibel out of place
all the quantum
qualifies her as an equal
but I’m an octave lower
masculine potential
once a man among men
a cannibal to cleanse
she places her skin
to my barren lips
my teeth are ivory towers
her hands are elliptical
spreading the sand
that might have ground her
into dust
but she’s aflame
you may recall
making daffodils into glass
boiling off the alcohol
in her margarita
she wanted ether
but without eyes
she couldn’t see it
at all
and the heat of proximity
makes my body
into so much dust
as wounds open in my skin
I feel my own blood
emerging out to rust.
