Putting a promise to myself in writing

Today, I hereby promise to say no to things I don’t want to do. A client is late. Said client is such a good friend that they get a special friend rate and honestly, I don’t care about if I’m paid for today or not (I don’t invoice this one, they just kinda pay me, it’s a whole weird thing, but it’s cool). That said, they’re late. I don’t want to waste my day on this. If they’re late, I’m not going over the scheduled time, even though I want to catch up. I will stick to this and say, “yeah, I got a thing right after our scheduled time today, sorry.” I have frequently just gone over scheduled time with them and it’s fine, but today, I think I’d resent that. I’m also not rescheduling for tomorrow, because I don’t want to. Normally I would and then resent it just a bit. Today, nope.

That’s it. Today is brought to you by the word, “boundary!” Boundaries are great!
