The Spoiled Child
I was watching a little Glenn Beck earlier (not reccommended), and after a while I finally just had to turn it off. You want america back to the way it was, Glenn? Really? Well, join the fucking club. His little universe is based around the (accurate) perception that the states are rappidly changing, and not for the better. But if he thinks there’s any "going back," well, he can have fun shocking his nuts with Uncle Rico’s time machine.
Although the biggest problem I have with Beck is his liberal-esque smarmy condecending sarcasm (see also Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, Rachel Maddow, Bill Mahr, etc), the pudgy bastard is blaming his entire downfall-of-america on the wrong demographic. Although liberal ideology is rooted in fear, and a foolish trust in logic, it’s not the cause of america’s collapse, as Beck seems to contend. Liberals will point to the failure of capitalism, and the entrenched wealthy republican establishment for the disaster, but such an observation is typically short sighted. The real problem isn’t the collapse of the economy at all, or the collapse of the job market. The problem is the collapse of the american culture.
All you have to do is take one look at any 15-20 year old kid in america to realize how fucked we are. I saw a boy yesterday who had obviously spent more time on his hair and makeup than any normal girl would. None of the boys look up to men anymore. Instead of the cool-under-pressure role models like Clint Eastwood, these kids look up to raging flamboyant faggots like Adam Lambert and the Jonas Brothers, teaching them that it’s better to be noticed than it is to be effective. But like they say, it’s not the child’s fault- it’s the parents.
Ever notice how, in really wealthy families, the older fellow who actually made all of the money, and did all of the work, is extremely laid back and awesome…yet his son is a complete and total douchebag, despite doing nothing but inherit the fruits of his father’s hard work? Yup, that’s us, right now. Our grandfathers slugged it out in WW2, and incidentally spoiled the following generation with wealth and peace. Fortunately, the relative isolation that we all shared before the internet allowed us to hold on to a small degree of ind
