The Rest of the Story

 

 

 

Despite hearing Paul Harvey’s fantastic stories on a regular basis throughout my life, it was not until his recent death, and a nostalgic airing of a Larry King interview, that I saw the man in person. Unlike Garrison Keeler, his body seemed to fit amazingly well into his voice; his face handsome, his disposition gentle and humble. Watching and listening to him talk to Larry King, dropping bits of wisdom with a light hand and a kind smile, I found myself, absurdly, on the verge of weeping….but what moved me to such an emotional degree was not his passing, but rather witnessing his simple presence in front of me. What an amazing individual, with such a wealth of material left behind to sort out and pour over…

I would like to write a proper entry and dedicate it to the man, but here, underneath his unrivaled command, I can only be the listener I’m afraid…
