Shahdaroba

Survival horror was the name of the game last night. I suppose it had been a while since I experienced a good honest-t’-god post-apocalyptic nightmare, so in a way I was due. I was in a hurry to log it, as I seem to recall it’s narrative quality to be quite superb, but alas I am too late. The time it took to brew coffee was too much, and I have but a few scattered fragments with which to lay down..

Civilization was still intact when the dream began, but soon began a quick decline. The plain and ordinary people that you and I see on a daily basis, always with their how are you’s and their you think it’s ever gonna warm up again’s and other such small talk, were the first to turn into animals. With only a blind imaginationless faith in the great majority-odds system, and a general lack of self reflection or self awareness, they were helpless to themselves when all, for whatever reason, came down. It was a world-wide loot-fest, and an appalling display of indignity…of course I was concerned too, but less with my ability to survive the disaster, and more with my ability to survive the roving hordes of idiots that were trying to survive the disaster.

There was some scuttling, some hiding, some running, some evasive maneuvering…all of which I only recall as having happened, without any significant details beyond a sense of being on the move, and having mild anxiety for my situation.

Eventually my faceless partner and I secured some safety and I was able to call my family, which yielded two interesting subtleties. First, was that upon hearing them answer the phone with a hello, I felt a wash of relief to know that they were ok…and in turn, when I said hello, I could hear the same relief mirrored in their voices for my own well being. It was a very touching family moment, if I do say so.

Had to counsel a friend of mine on his woman ills…
He told me she was very beautiful, and very intelligent….but deeply unhappy.

I advised him that such a combination was extremely dangerous.
