Over The Misty Mountains Cold
If I’ve had too much to drink, and I need to throw up, I go into the bathroom, lock the door, crouch down by the toilet and think of disgusting things until it happens. If I’ve had to deal with and process too many emotions over a period of time, and need to cry, I go into my bedroom, lock the door, and watch excerpts from Lord of the Rings.
Yeah, yeah, shut up. To each their own, right? I’m not (that) ashamed of it. There is just something about that story– it’s like a testament to the triumph of everything that I’m not, that I wished I was. There’s a wisdom in it, between the lines, that intellects and spiritual philosophers have embraced and poured over for decades. It speaks to the very nature of goodness; of honor, the importance of words, and how monumental peril can never be defeated by planning. It is only illogic that can slay logic– and when logic has in it’s legions a dark and unstoppable force ready to destroy the world, all that can stop it is action in the face of hopelessness. A hope that there is enough morality left in the game’s players that they’d put the fate of the world above themselves. Morality….a code. A humility. A submission to the fact that one is but a small servant, to a greater good, for a greater entity.
Mordor has already taken over the USA– only in our world, they don’t burn everything, or rape and pillage it…because the orcs of our world don’t like fire and ash. They prefer what they prefer– starbucks, chain-store clothing, and their favorite restaurant conveniently placed in every city they could ever visit. Japan has it’s own moral code of honor, Canada has it’s honor in tolerance and culture, and America had Christian Capitalism…the first word of which has since been all but erased, and the biblical wisdom within it forgotten by a generation that was never made to learn it in the first place. In the 60s, the capitalism half of the christian-capitalist system did what it always does, and pushed too hard– splitting the two factions. Although the hippies were the embodiment of Christian without the Capitalism, it was oddly the Capitalists who yet proclaimed to be Christian, while the Hippies would have nothing to do with the centuries-old morality of love. If only they had gotten it right, and not simply made things worse by eroding their own morality through their own ignorance– supporting a woman’s right to kill, and a man’s right to contribute nothing and still get fed. It all turned into soup, after that, and as the morality of the nation crumbled completely away, all we could do is stand there and pick a side– Socialist, or Capitalist– regardless of the fact that we all hate both of them, whether we realize it or not. But what choice do we have? We were never players, and some ass hole already shot Frodo in the back of the head just as he was driving over into Mordor with Sam.

One of my all time favorite books (series)! I’m hoping that heaven is what you dream it to be, and I’m choosing Middle Earth! Though I’m not sure if ‘man’ is what I want to be. Maybe an elf, of hobbit, or wizard (or would I be a witch?). As for Christianity… I used to be one, until I saw the light.

Not trying to pry or be nosey, but it says on my bookmarks that you have an new entry. When I try to click on said entry it says I do not have access. Am I doing something wrong, or are these private entries and I need to mind my own business? 🙂
