Ideal Character

The only characters I really truly appreciate in movies, or in books, are the ones that embody a moral code completely separate from the general moral system of the protagonist and the antagonist. Sometimes these characters are portrayed as the hero, but more often they are portrayed as initial villains…only to later be surpassed by the true villain in the shadows– the one who’s motive accurately contrasts that of the hero of the story. Or, they are portrayed as friends of the hero, bound by loyalty, and fused together through their complimenting differences.

All of this, however, is merely incidental to the reason I have for liking these types of characters. It’s the integrity they embody, and the sense of honor and conviction they have regarding not necessarily themselves, but rather their perception of themselves, and the world at large. They believe they hold the truth, and are alone in doing so.

Why would you love en masse a whole group of oxygen bandits?
