Loved You So

And there, you touched my cheek, while I was so meek, behind the curve of your shoulder, before we got so much older. I dreamt of your eyes behind glassy lies, though you only held me by the hand, like you would understand if I ever cried over you, lied over you, died over you, for when all my dreams would come true. The other day, along the way, I touched your lips with my fingertips. They smiled and beguiled, and I couldn’t help but fall asleep against the heartbeat that you keep for me to meet. You promised me another kiss, another miss for the next few days when we could laze and skip rocks on the lake, in the box that you’d make, with the locks that you’d break and take from my fragile ribcage, like an empty page drowned in smoke. You spoke with your eyes open and your mouth closed, with my lips open and my hands closed. And when morning came, it should have been the same. But on a cold pillow, my heart the shape of a willow, I never saw you go, when I told you I loved you so. When I told you I loved you so.

Finally decided to post this. On a whim. ^_^
