It’s easy if you try.

I’m kinda addicted to those “Blue Sky” sodas…a bit too much. I like that they have real sugar (or cane juice, depending on the type), instead of HFCS, but…it’s still sugar and I’ve gotta lay off them a bit.

I read “Fast Food Nation” while I was in Mexico. I had watched “Food, Inc.” the week before I left, and that ended up being like a watered down version of FFN. I haven’t had the urge to eat any fast food since, and can’t see myself ever wanting to again. The cravings I’ve had since I stopped eating fast food are getting less intense, and even when I do have one, I just want the flavor, I have absolutely no interest in going to get it.

I haven’t wanted to go to any restaurants, either, and I haven’t been inside a store other than Trader Joes or the co-op since I got back.

I guess I was under the illusion that while a lot of food might not be *good* for me, if people were letting me eat it, it had to at least be okay to eat, even if it is unhealthy, and…the bubble of ignorance burst as I realized that no, there’s really no one trying to protect me. There’s a goddamn lot of people trying to protect the food industry, though.

*sigh*

Living in this country depresses me. A lot. We’re really hoping to be able to move in the next few years, at least to Canada (which might not be all that much better but it seems to be on the issues that matter to me), and ideally, we would love to end up in the Netherlands, or Norway. I can spend hours reading about those two places…We have a friend who, if all goes according to plan, is moving to Norway sometime in the next few years, so if we end up there, we’d have company. There’s just a lot of work involved with being able to move to a different country, so we have a long list of stuff to get done.

I’m still sick. I’m kind of cleaning the house today, kind of just lazily browsing the web. I’m about to upload some photos, so at least that’s somewhat productive.
