16 weeks

16 weeks, huzzah!

I’ve decided the only pregnancy symptom (so far! I realize this journey may get more difficult) worse than morning sickness, is being completely unable to poop.

Oh my god. It’s the worst. My stomach starts hurting so bad, I feel nauseous. After weeks of suffering, around 12-13 weeks I got some milk of magnesium (pretty much everything seemed to be a no-no, the milk of magnesium is a no-no for frequent use and isn’t recommended before the 2nd trimester but is ok in moderation), but I only take it when the pain gets so bad that I literally feel like I need to go to the ER. Other than that, I deal with the pain by drinking more water, laying down and groaning, and doing yoga type stretches. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn’t, but at least 3-4 times a week, the pain comes back.

Laaaame. Anyway, moving on. It’s just seriously on my mind right now

(I always forget how much I love that smiley. He looks so distressed! Poor guy).

After trying to decide for a while, we finally made a decision about finding out the sex of the baby earlier. I pretty much left it up to Jonathan, who thought about it for a bit and then told me he’d like to find out as soon as we can. Mostly because we don’t even want to start discussing names until we’ve narrowed down whether we need to pick a boy’s name or a girl’s name, and we’d really like to start thinking about names. I KNOW July isn’t that far away, but…I don’t know. I really want to know, everyone else really wants to know, and you only get to have your first baby once! So I made an appointment for next Monday! It’s a very decent price and I’ve heard nothing but great reviews about this place.

So, at 10:00 next Monday we will know whether it’s a little girl or a little boy. I am so excited, I hope this week will fly by (of course it will, though) because I can’t wait. It seems crazy that we’re already far enough into this to find out! That always seems like such a huge milestone in other people’s pregnancies, and it just came up so fast.

The best part? We’re not telling anyone about the ultrasound! We’re gonna let them keep thinking we don’t get to find out until July so that we can completely surprise them. I can’t wait to see their faces! I miiiight plan some fun way to tell them, but I don’t really have any ideas yet. If I was more crafty at baking, I’d do some cupcakes or cake pops with the colored center. That always seems like a fun way to reveal…but since I’m not, maybe I’ll get a really girly or really boyish outfit and just say I picked up something cute for the baby and show everybody. When they’re like "Isn’t that really girly?" I’ll get to be like "Yup, so it’s a good thing I’m having a girl!".

We’re going to rent a Rug Doctor next week and steam clean our carpets. I will feel like this house is SO much cleaner when the carpets aren’t as gross. I look at them and the idea of a baby crawling around on them makes me nauseous.

Ok, I’ve got to stop relaxing for a while and clean up a bit while I still have some energy left for the day.

RYN: Also, before hubby had his gallbladder out he had a lot of problems. He’d buy prune juice and drink a glass each night before bed and it really helped.

I like the outfit idea! If it’s a girl… get something with bows, lol

I’ve been eating five dried apricots a day and I find that REALLY helps to keep things moving. Plus dried apricots are tasty.
