12w6d- Heartbeat <3

Hopefully this works for everyone! The embedding has been a little iffy for me but I think it’s working now. If it doesn’t work on the first load, try refreshing…that seems to do it for me.

It was so exciting! The midwife said it sounds perfect, it’s exactly where she was expecting to hear it, the rhythm is great…I was SO happy to hear it. A little over 4 weeks ago we SAW it on the ultrasound but I was so glad that I can put my fears at ease because it’s still there and now I get to hear it!

She showed us where the top of my uterus is, and it’s a bit higher than where I’ve been prodding around looking for it. It makes a lot of sense though, because my tummy is definitely getting a lot rounder and the bump is getting a lot more obvious. I need to post an updated belly picture soon.

I have to go in tomorrow for the first round of blood tests for prenatal screening. I hadn’t really decided whether or not I was going to, though I’ve had weeks to think about it, so when she asked tonight I was like, "Sure, let’s go for it, why not?". Next week sometime I go in for the nuchal translucency ultrasound (I guess the latest that will be is next Monday, since I’ll be 13 weeks, 6 days at that point and that’s the latest they can do that test). I’m not really too nervous about that…honestly, I’m excited we get to see the baby again before July! I’m sure there will be a lot more to see than at our last ultrasound.

I’m really happy that my health is in pretty good condition right now. I’m not anemic, my blood pressure is good, my weight (and weight gain) is good (the midwife was actually really happy I’ve gained 3 pounds since my last visit 4 weeks ago, because it means I’m keeping down enough food to be getting nutrition), I’ve been negative for everything like gonorrhea, chlamydia, toxoplasmosis…still feeling pretty sick a lot of the time, but I have the feeling it might taper off in the next couple of weeks. My uterus is measuring exactly where it should be…I’m just really happy that so far, everything looks really good. I’ve been a lot less worried in general since hitting that magical 12 weeks and after tonight, I feel really good.

Also, I finally told my dad. I think he is happy for me, and he wants the baby to come on October 26th, his birthday. Hopefully that doesn’t happen, since I’d like to start my maternity leave on November 1st…haha.
