We just got home from Jack in The Box, where we were planning on eating but instead just left with our food because this lady in their was making us so miserable. She had three kids- a girl who was about ten, a toddler boy and a baby in a stroller. The ENTIRE time she treated her daughter like a worthless slave. She kept yelling at her to go get things, and then mocking and belittling her the whole way across the room. I felt SO bad for her. The girl tried to ask what number they were, to get the food, and the mom yelled "We’re the number that has OUR food on the plate". What the fuck? Why do people have to be such pieces of shit for no reason? It was obvious the girl wasn’t paying attention when they ordered, how was she supposed to know which tray full of wrapped and bagged food was theirs?

It just got worse and worse. Her husband was there but didn’t say a word the whole time, I have the feeling she treats him the same way so he looked like he doesn’t even try anymore. He gave me this kind of miserable look as I was leaving, I felt bad for him, too.

Among other things, she kept yelling things out to the girl when she wanted them (like "Ranch! RANCH!" instead of just asking), argued with her about pointless shit (at one point the girl said the baby was 9 months old and the mom FREAKED out and started yelling about how she was 8 months old).

I don’t get people…

I need a job so bad. That’s pretty much all that’s going on, is a frantic search for a job. My skills are basically dog grooming and childcare. No one has the money to pay for a nanny so they’re all asking daycare prices, and sorry, but I can’t live on that. At a daycare it’s different because there’s a few kids and you’re making that much for each of them, it’s not quite the same when you’re only watching one. And I could groom, but I haven’t found anybody hiring except for Petsmart, who I won’t work for again, and I probably couldn’t deal with Petco, either. I just can’t do corporations anymore. I was a different person a year ago and took WAY too much shit. I would fly off the handle if I was expected to do illegal things to make the company money now.

Speaking of corporations, (this will please you, Anna) I went to Wal-Mart on New Year’s Day and decided a minute into the trip that it was my last time. I told Jonathan while we were there that I wasn’t going back, not ever. I’m broke as shit, and yes, they’re cheap, but they’re getting worse and worse about their "illegal" policies, they’re LIARS, they hire and don’t pay kids, they treat women like shit, etc…and I just can’t support it anymore. I think I was pulling the whole "But they’re cheapest place around…" card for a long time and didn’t want to do all the research, but now that I have…it’s like handing money to the devil and going "Here, ruin a few more lives and towns". It sickens me that when I buy the cheapest thing there, I have spent far more than some of their overseas workers make an hour.
