Warm, Fuzzy, Giddy, and Getting My Money’s Worth!
Today has defintley been a good day. I’m currently warm, fuzzy and giddy because I had two glasses of wine courtesy of the Psych Society mixer (one glass of red followed by one glass of white). But the feeling has been there long before I started drinking.
The day started off so-so. I did my laundry, which is only so exciting. Though iI found it to be very meditative to just watch my clothes spin around and aroudn in the dryer. Yes, I know, I’m weird π Whe nI got back to the apt I checked my email on Donna’s computer. I’m not sure if I mentioned it in a previous entry but I met this cute nice guy named John while in line registering for classes and he gave me his email address (without my asking for it) So I eamiled him last week asking him if he wanted to get together for coffee and never got a response. I was a little bummed but figured he must not have expected me to actually email him. I’ve done that before (thoguth I’ve never OFFERED my email address/phone number and then hopedthe person wouldn’t actualy take me up on it, they’ve generally asked me first) so I figured turnabout was fair play. I’d completely forgotten about him. Well then today I got an email from him. Turns out he’d been outta town this past weekend and just gotten my message. He said we shoudl defintley get together and asked me to let him know my schedule. I was glowing the rest of the day π It’s sooooo hard to meet guys period, but it’s espescially bad when you’re a psych student cause the ratio of guys to girls is like 95% female. And from what i’ve noticed over the past week and a half, the west village is very much a gayborhood (I have nothing against gays!, just makes it that much difficult as a straight woman to meet potential romantic interests)
It’s really funny too that his name is John. See Bethann and Maggie each had serious John boyfirends. (Maggie is engaged to her John, sadly Bethann’s Jonathan didn’t work out) It got ot the point whre my favorite joke last year was “more John’s than a prostitution ring.” Bethann started dating Jonathan exactly 6 months after Maggie started dating John. So I figured I’d meet my John on March 1, 2001 — exactly 6 months after Bethann started dating her Jonathan, and also the date of the Hillel sponsored Purim ball, so it was ripe with promise for meeting new people, but no go π But now it appears that meeting a John is a once a year thing. Maggie started dating her John the beginning of junior year, Bethann got her Jonathan senior year and now I’m meeting a John the next year (first year of grad school) and mine’s a John, not a Jonathan so hopefully it has more potential π No, I’m not supersitious, not at all!!! But serioulsy it is a funny ass coincidence.
I’m really liking how everything’s starting to come togerther now. I’m starting ot meet a lot more cool people from the psych program now that classes have started and I even have a date in the near future π
And now for the “getting my money’s worth” part fo the title. Todya was the university block party. One thign I cna say about New School, as over priced as the classes are, they have GOOD free food events. FREE knishes (sp), FREE good humor bars, FREE corn on the cob and FREEEEEE Funnel cake!!!!!! And then the psych society paid for my drinks tonight. I am content π
And i even was able to get a refund on the phone charger i bought. The package my mom sent with the phone charger I already own, but left in Philly when I moved, naturallycame right AFTER I bought the new phone charger! But I had a recipt and it was less than a week later so they let me return it. $15 in cold hard cash. Life is beautiful π

Cool! I can see you’re having a blast π Good luck with you John(s)… π Oh, on the story, you were gonna get another email saying ‘DON’T Read that, read this’, which I’ll be sending out soon, so don’t fret anyway. Malcolm gave me a cool idea and is now cowriting the character with your name. Ahhh…free food. Those were the days. Peace,
