The blahs from earlier in the week are long gone! The downtime tuesdya night wound up being just what I needed anyway. I finished up most of the photojournaling in my senior year of college scrapbook. Better late than never 😉 It was fun too look back on all of the good times and to actually have text written down by the pictures now. My paper journal from senior year was really helpful in that. And Vash called on tuesdya night cause my entry sounded so down. That was really sweet and totally cheered me up. I have the best best friend!
Wednesday I hung out with Meghan afterall and it was all good. Went to Ben and Irv’s, the northeast equivalent of the Melrose Diner (as in everyone who knows, goes there) with a Jewish feel. Knishes and matzoh ball soup and kasha and bowties, oh my!!! We sat in a the resturant for over two hours just catching up and then went back to her place and played cards and looked at old hs photos. It was nice. I caught the 10:30 train back. It was really neat cause right before we left Meg’s house for the train Robert called on his way home form work. It turned out we’d both be getting into Market East at 11 so we met up there and then his grandfather gave me a ride home.
Yesterday was more “old pool” fun. Robert had the day off so he came to my house and then dad picked us up and after dropping him off at the rental car place we headed for the pool. I have Big Red for the whole weekend. Freedom! Ben met us at the pool and after taking a quick dip the three of us sat on the deck outside the cabana admiring the “scenery” (there were actually cute guys over 10 and under 70 today, a rare occurance if ever there was one! And Rob and Ben were checking out the new lifeguard). It was pretty empty for the day so it felt like having our own private pool. I felt rich; it was kind of neat. Then once school let out the kids started coming. Evan and Annie, Hassan, and Hanz. We played four square for a while (haven’t played that since 2nd grade and back then it was the girls who played and not the guys) and then went back in the pool for endless rounds of sharks an minnows. It’s amazing to be almost 23 and spending the day playing kids games. That pool is like eternal childhood. I love it!
Ordered pizza by the pool and after dinner had a 6 square round robin battle royale. I hope the boys keep letting me play. It’s a great workout and involves great strategy and I know in time with practice I can be really good at it. It still can’t replace water basketball, but it’ll defintley be something fun to do this summer.
We hung around until a little after 7 and then Robert had to get to his club meeting. I dropped Ben off at 30th St and then headed down the expressway. I’m smiling as I write this cause i hear me and Rob singing along at the top of our lungs to “Livin On a Prayer” crusing down 95 into the philly sunset at 70mph.
I was gonna either head out to Meghan’s if Robert got out of his meeting early or hang out with Vash and Malcolm. But once I sat down the chlorine hit me and I didn’t feel like going out again. Rob never called anyway so I called Meg and she said that was fine cause she was really beat too. Then Vash called and we had the same conversation. Everyone was really wiped and just needed the downtime.
Today I’m just hanging in. I got a really bad sunburn at the pool yesterday and it’s muggy and humid out so I’m reveling in the AC before i go to work tonight. They’re calling for evening shower’s ick! I hope they just finsih the game quickly or that it gets rained out quickly. I hate a long rain delay and THEN finishing the game. But still, life is good 🙂
