Friends

It’s been a good past couple of days. The work part of the weekend was just alright, though I did witness an amazing first inning yesterday where the phillies scored 10 runs including a grand slam by the pitcher. Naturally we went on to win the game, 18-3; it took forever though. We were only 4 or 5 minutes from going into overtime pay. After work I took Brian home and picked up Vash and we relaxed by the pool for a couple hours til closing. Then I picked Holly up at Sean’s and then picked Robert up and we went to the Melrose. Me Rob and Holly weren’t too hungry but Vash made up with it with her appetite. It was a fun time. Robert was messing with a waitress about the proper way set the silverware and I accidentally called Holly’s cell even though she was sitting right across from me.

After the Melrose we went back to my house and watched the talent show we did back in summer ’96. Me, Brian, Robert, Holly and Vash all squished onto the couch and preceded to laugh our asses off at our own silliness. It was also neat to see what we all looked like back then. Me and Holly kept saying how we were so much thinner and Vashti (loudly!) lamented the waist-long hair she had back before she tried dying it. Brian was still shorter than Robert and Robert had six pack abs. Those were the days…

The best part was the last song, “remember me this way.” On tape we were all swaying back and we decided to recreate the moment (minus Franny) and stood in the same order as on the tape and swayed back and forth (me as always out of rythm) and sung along. We’re gonna do another talent show/musical/ensemble thing this year too. The only time we’ll all be available to practice is thursday during the day so it should be interesting 🙂

After watching the tape Robert did his card readings for us and then I took Robert and Holly and Vashti home.

Today was a continuation of the fun. The mission: to get in some softball practice for the after-work pick up game 2 sundays from now. As always it wound up being more complicated than it seemed. I remembered the gloves but not the bat. Holly had a bat but it was cracked and she couldn’t find her glove. So we called up Hanz and he had a bat and a glove. We were all set to leave when Meghan called me. She and her friend Scott came down but neither of them had gloves and Scott didn’t even have sneakers. Along the way we picked up Justin, who didn’t have a glove and Hassan, who did. So we had 8 people and 4 gloves and a lot of insanity. We’d been trying to head out since 4:30. By the time we got everyone together and found a feild to play on it was 6:30. The best thing Holly did was to bring two balls. This way several of us were batting and the rest could have a catch. We never did get an actual game going. Just took turns hitting. Robert and Hanz showed Meghan how to hit and me and Holly practiced throwing and catching. At 7 Justin and Hanz had to leave (Hassan wound up going with them) As usual we spent more time planning for the thing than actually doing it but still had a blast anyway. Meghan wanted to walk along the river drive so me and her and Scott and Robert and Holly walked from the art museum to boathouse row and sat by the water for a little bit before heading back to the pool to close up the cabanna.

After saying goodbye to Meghan and Scott, me and Robert and Holly waited for Rob’s friend Joey to pick us up. Oh god I thought I was gonna die! He drives so damn fast! And he has a hula dancer on the deck of the front seat and he kept swerving trying to make it dance. The seat belt wouldn’t open so I just had to hope for the best. But it was all good and in the end I did wind up laughing. Still, not something I’d like to do again soon.

Tonight I’m just hanging in and enjoying my night off. Tomorrow it’s back to work and then the weekend is going to be insane. I’m toying with the idea of going up to New York for the day on friday and coming back in the early afternoon on saturday. Then saturday night is my aunt Sylvia’s 80th birthday party and then sunday morning I’m going down to DC to visit my college friends and won’t be getting back til sometime on monday. Whirlwind city! But it’s all in the name of fun 🙂

My computer is fixed and mom is picking it up for me tomorrow so by tomororw night i should have a computer in my room again. It’ll be soooo nice not to have to come down to the basement every time I want ot check OD or my email. I’ll probably write more frequently too.

Dunno about you but I enjoy baseball more when everyone is hitting and catching, instead of playing a real game. A actual baseball game takes too long. Being on the outfield really suck with the sun beaming down at us. At least you enjoyed it… That’s how it should be =P
