Better Things
(Dedicated to Holly as she begins her second year of college next week after a triop to Martha’s Vineyard)
“Better Things” – Dar Williams
Here’s Wishing you the bluest sky
And hoping something better comes tomorrow
Hoping all the verses rhyme
And the very best of choruses to
Follow all the doubt and saddness
I know that better things are on their way
Here’s hopign all the days ahead
Won’t be as bitter as the one’s behind you
Be and optimist instead
And somehow happiness will find you
Forget what happened yesterday
I knwo that better things are on their way
It’s really good to see you rockin out and having fun
Living like you just begun
So here’s to what the future brings
I hope tomrrow you find better things
I know tomorrow you’ll find better things
Here’s wishing you the bluest sky
And hoping something better comes tomrorw
Hoping all the verses rhyme
And the very best of choruses to
Follow all the drudge and saddness
I know that better things are on their way
I know you’ve got a lot of good things happenin up ahead*
The past is gone it’s all been said
Accept your life and what it brings
I know tomorrow you’ll find better things
*(my favorite verse cause it’s so fits my life right now. I’ve got a lot of great stuff happening soon and all the bullshit of the past year is done, it’s time to look to the future!!!)

Vash discovered this song at the beginnign of summer ’99 (ironically the most depressign summer I’ve ever had) I thoguth it was cool but didn’t realize how completley awsome and uplifting it is til this year when I put it on my happy mix (YAY to Vash’s humongous hard drive, ethernet and CD burner!!!)
So anyway…
Imagine playing that wonderful song on constanst repeat for the whole bus ride and walk to the pool. Needless to say I couldn’t stop grinning and smiling. And that set the tone for the rest of the day.
No drama, no crap, just good friends and fun. Sadly this was Holly’s last day at the pool 🙁 Tomorrow she leaves for Martha’s Vineyard and returns the same day I move into my apt in NYC 🙁 But we totally made the most of the beautiful day (a more appropriate title to this entry would be “Good Day, Sunshine” cause it was so nice out!) Me, Holly, Annie, Evan, Justin ate a whole package fo raw cookie dough (yum!) and then Franny joined us to play the Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul game. Then me Annie and Holly swam laps to burn off the junk food 🙂 altogether we swam half a mile today (36 laps!) Franny also had us interview each other for the ham radio tape we make every summer. The interviews were hilarious! Annie is so silly 🙂
It was really hard saying goodbye since I won’t see Holly again til sometime during the school year when I come home on break 🙁 The three of us have so much fun together. Like sisters.
I left aroudn 7:30 and went late to Grace’s goign away party. It was at a Japaneese resturant in Center City and it was really good! And we had strawberry shortcake for dessert, YUM!!! Grace was really happy and surprised. She kept saying “I feel so special” She’s going to DC (the day before i move) and it’s her first time moving out of state since she went to Temple. It was really cool cuase i hadn’t seen her two sisters Henh and Linda in years. Linda got so big! She was 9 the last time I saw her and now she’s 14 and starting Central in the fall. I also met this really nice firend of Grace’s Judy. She’s so bubbly and nice and she studied aboraod to so we swaped traveling stories. Twas fun 🙂
All in all a really terrific day!
